A locate challenge for you:
I am considering going back to stock with my 996tt radio. Turns out the stock radio i had was rare.
Any help in locating one that is REASONABLY priced would be very appreciated/reward $$.
(new) 996-642-945-00-EWD
(remanufactured) 996-642-945-X-EWD

It's PCM 1. Things to consider. 1. You will probably need the CD interface 32Krazy pointed out in order to input the map function. 2, I'm not sure if the DVD map set is still available. 3. Even if they are, they will probably be so out of date, they may not be of much use.
This might be your wiring diagram as well: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...cdr-220-a.html

Honestly the best solution was already posted in one of your other threads... The continental radio with a Porsche sticker. Looks really close to oem, performs way better than oem, cost very little.
If you had some uber-valuable, low mile collectable 996 Turbo in flawless shape, it might make sense to source the original POS radio just for authenticity, but if I recall your car has like 80k miles on it? Go for the Continental.

stock radio is kind of a turd. I went with a cheap Bluetooth Kenwood because it had a volume **** and didn't look like a video game. It's very black and subtle, almost no chrome, you can color match the led's to the dash and I think it looks clean in the car, not out of place at all. Was like $250, and you have all the modern stuff.

Is ugly, the display is like a 70's calculator, the ***** and buttons are meh, also mine had the cassette player with storage! Was fun for about a month. If you like it keep it, I kept mine, it's in a box along with the cassette storage deal.
New radio sounds cleaner with the HD tuner and Bluetooth, just nice to have current functionality and usability.
