Why All the Closed Threads on GT3 Forum?
First it was the CJ/CW thread, now it's the Superquant thread. I found both useful and informative and I'm really perplexed about this latest swift shutdown of the Superquant thread. Personally, I get Superquant's frustration but regardless of where you come down on either thread we're all adults and can draw our own conclusions.
In the past there were far more vitriolic threads that were allowed to run their course and die a natural death. Is this a sign of a new nanny PC mentality on Rennlist or is it just that whenever we get a little too close to learning something about the retail network it's shutdown time? I sure hope not because if that's the case it clearly diminishes the value of Rennlist, not to mention undermining the spirit of free speech.

I suspect that there is a legal concern. If you post rules and don't enforce them - then maybe there is liability is someone is defamed or slandered. I am not a lawyer but with all the PC pressure, I might be onto something.

Learning through repetition can be valuable but RL typically exhausts that value rapidly. These threads all have the same pattern, an inflammatory claim is made, first responses all supportive until a naysayer or detractor upends the direction and then the negative postings about the OP and his claims pile on. Then after a few back and forth, possibly including an “other side” the thread will go off on various tangents and eventually die unless the OP and his target post new grist for the mill. Little if anything can be learned after page 3-4. But better to ignore than censor, making one’s own choices is always preferable to having others make them. I believe it’s called freedom of choice.

Bickering like little girls is unbecoming of GT3 owners... lol.
But perhaps those two threads were closed to prevent (potential) unwarranted defamation of another... (makes sense to me).
While entertaining, they were not productive. Its like watching Love and Hip-hop or real housewives of ...

Although I haven't noticed the threads mentioned, I have noticed threads in general being closed that had no reason for closure, on rennlist and elsewhere. I also support letting threads die natural deaths except for very particular and/or extreme circumstances.
Of course there is no constitutionally protected free speech on a private forum, but a private forum does depend on its users, who can express opinions on how much "free speech" they'd like on the private forum. (FWIW, even with all the complaining, 2018 rennlist is still better than a lot of other forums! )

I really don't understand closing relatively civil threads here while letting the cesspool of angry 928 owners (ie, the P&C forum) continue to fester.

..and here too.
The value of this site for me was that it was largely populated by thinking adults who could argue passionately without resorting to name calling. That seems to have changed a bit. Places where everyone agrees with everything become echo chambers and the world doesn't need another one.
