Default PCA Club Race @ Barber

Great PCA event this weekend at the Barber Motorsports Park. Big thanks to the all of the volunteers who made it happen. The Saturday night social in the amazing museum alone was worth the trip. Hoping for a repeat next year.

Absolutely - great job by the corner workers. The extract teams did a great job also and cleared the track quickly resulting in an enduro that had some "drama" in it yet we still get 75% of the race under green. Well run all around and the Saturday night social with the 911 Turbo S ride along was sensational.

Being as NOLA is home track now, it's pretty hard to impress as far as facilities go but Barber is on another level.
Going around the perimeter to get pics and videos of my son's group when I wasn't working on a car, there were 3-4 guys constantly weed trimming, another 2-3 watering flowers and plants and another spreading mulch.
Been there once before as support for a former racer 8-10 years ago.
On that date, my son's only previous experience around the track was lunch time lapping in a street 944S2.

He smashed the track record for SP2 in his 944 this weekend by 1.20/sec.

That makes 6 track records of the 7 tracks we visit....

If anybody has any Boxster/SP1/2/3 race group vids, I'd appreciate it if you post 'em up.

Yes, a fantastic weekend. Peachstate did a stellar job, thanks to all the volunteers! Weather was supposed to be wet all weekend and it turned out sunny and warm (ok, HOT) with maybe 15 minutes of rain on Friday. I certainly hope this race becomes an annual event!

Highlight was the ride alongs in the Porsche Driving School 911 Turbo S during the party. Yes, 2 rides. Here I am having a drink on the patio and I see 4 blue 911s coming and going with switching of people in and out nonstop. In and out of the gate (at 10mph) they were doing single 1:45 laps. Probably 1:35 if they didn't have stop/start each lap.
So I got in line, too.
While waiting in line I won the raffle for a ride with Hurley Haywood in a GT3. That was 2 laps.
So I got to compare cars (and drivers).
What a difference the track is in a fast car compared to my stock E class 911.
These rides aren't track tours. Full on fast laps, threshold braking with abs, rear end getting loose, etc.
Hurley was having fun. Me, too.

I was there merely as a volunteer, that was my first experience w/ PCA club racing and will not be my last. After attending the PSDS at Barber a couple months ago, I couldn't wait to come back. I was expecting a run what you brung kind of an event and couldn't have been further off -- at one point i thought i was at a cup car event. Super cool.

I took a few snaps on Sunday if anyone cares to have a look...

He pushed in t2. I told him we had that problem all day.
Next lap he held it tight to the grass - earlier in the day the same problem took me 10 laps to figure out.
No advice needed from me. Lol

The whole event was really very well done. The folks from Peachstate worked their tails off to put forth a first-class effort. We will work hard to bring more cars next year! Kudos to the corner workers as well, they were all switched-on. I watched a couple of them hanging out of their stand and fist-pumping during the race!
