Light Weight Battery for .2 GT3???
Has anyone done this <10lbs battery conversion?

I did it on my 991.1 GT3. Went with the Voltphreaks VP6. Weighs right around 6-7 lbs. Works beautifully. I drive the car at least every two weeks so I do not even leave it on a trickle charger. Plus, it has the cutoff point, so it always has one start in it. Very impressed.

Thank you - good to hear - 40 lbs weight savings is pretty substantial. Voltphreaks websites says the following
Almost all car alternators maintain 14V to 14.6V to properly charge the car's battery, and this is what the Voltphreaks battery expects. Some Porsche GT's undercharge their lead-acid batteries, and this is not compatible with the more efficient lithium batteries. Below 13V, a lead-acid battery will be partially charged, but a lithium battery will be barely charged. If you have a Porsche GT2 or GT3 (or if you suspect your car's voltage may be incompatible), measure the voltage with engine on (so alternator is active) first to insure compatibility. Voltage at idle should be around 14-14.6V.
I assume the .1 and .2 are fine bc they charge at 14.6v?? Checking bc my .2 hasn’t arrived yet so don’t know for sure. Thank you.

My 2015 GT3 alternator charged right in the 14.5 range. It was spot on. I think there was only a few 991 GT3's that had the lower-than-normal alternator charge. No way to know for sure until yours arrives, but I would be fairly certain that a new 991.2 GT3 will at least charge at 14V

Is it really a good idea to remove weight from the front of a GT3 since most of the weight is in the rear?

Depends if you have the larger fuel tank or not I suppose. In general removing 40lbs is a good thing. Thats half a sack of concrete the car is no longer lugging around. If you do the exhaust 15-20lbs comes off the back too (depending on the exhaust) but combined 55-60 lbs is super.

This would be a great mod in conjunction with an exhaust. Anyone know how exactly much the OEM 991 gt3 battery weighs?

I did a write up on this about 2 years ago, on this forum, after a long exhaustive search for the all-around best if you want to try to find it.
The Braille is the best and plug and play. The Voltphreaks you needed to build a bracket to properly hold it in place unless they have developed one. The Braille also is better for those in colder weather areas like the Midwest and NE. I think the Braille was only like 3 lbs heavier than the Voltpheaks which is negligible

Voltphreaks developed a bracket that is 2.4 lbs. With the bracket you are looking at 8 lbs total. Thats a 35-40lb weight saving over stock.
