Default Time for pinning

I have no idea where to start. Lots of pinning threads, but they jump to where all the parts are off.
Any direction here guys? Man I miss my Bentley and Pelican air-cooled books.
Tonight I clean!

Please take pics along your disassembly path. I'll be doing this also sooner or later. The Bentley manual leaves a lot out on the turbo models.

I am also interested to see how this path goes - I saw a bit of this on Sharkwerks website, and there are a couple of videos on doing this engine in/out, engine out appears to be the way to go.

I just pinned mine a couple of weeks ago... my motor is a lot more torn down than yours.. it took me maybe an hour max.

there are 3 to be pinned under your alternator (remove that)

there is 1 under/behind the PS pump (recommend remove that)

there are 2 under the oil cooler, one on each side.. i have my plenum and intake manifolds removed so those were easy to get.

there are 2 more in the area kinda behind and under the oil filter housing, follow the coolant outlets from the alternator lines and you will see them

If they show any signs of movement or leakage or weeping, then you need to remove the fitting re-glue and then pin. Don't pin a leaking fitting, you will give pinning a bad rap.

Thanks guys.
I was thinking of re gluing all the fittings. Too much work? It would involve removing the cases that are attached to the fittings I think.
Are there 3 or 4 fittings under the alternator? (see yellow dots)
Alternator and steering pump coming off next.

if you follow the center pipe from the alternator one you have marked above, follow towards the rear of the motor, it runs into another fitting to pin... just to the side of that one along the same pipe is another one to pin.

Keep in mind pinning only keeps the parts from separating and blowing all coolant out! A pinned system can still leak, and need regluing or welding!

if you decide to remove and glue the fittings use 2 part jb weld and watch the orientation of the fittings to the pieces they attach to. no going back once the jb sets

If the parts have not moved and are not currently leaking, pinning should be 100% good for the life of the car.

This would be ideal, but scares the hell out of me.
Should I start a poll? lol
