Default Clutch going out 02 996TT

My clutch has started slipping around 3000 RPM. about the time the boost comes up...So, It's going in the shop...any recommendations on clutch replacement? OEM or a performance upgrade? I'm having trouble with popping out of 2nd during decal..I'm thinking of addressing that as well. Anything else I should do while we're in there?

The 2nd gear pop-out will require you pull transmission apart if you've ruled out misaligned shifter, etc.
Opening box creates a whole new set of while you're in there possibilities but would be smart to do if you plan to keep it.
A thick wallet is a good thing to have if you start down the "while I'm in there" rabbit hole

Is your car modded or do you plan on modding it? If so, go with a Sachs 2.5 and also do the GT2 Setup with a lightweight flywheel. If you've got 2nd gear popout, if it's only occasional and not bad, you can do a Gbox detent. If it's bad, you'll have to rebuild the transmission, in which case, put the 997 GT2RS gearing in. It's beefier and the gears are more usable. That should thin your wallet a bit, but if it's still in need of a little more slimming, you could do a short shifter and Numeric or cup car shift cables and another good while you're in there is a good opportunity to pin or weld the coolant lines while you're in there. Oh and...then...ok, we'll go easy on you, that should give you plenty of things to think about

I would also go with the Sachs 2.5, that's what's going in my car. I also sell them!

Thanks for the replies...My car is un modified except I did replace the radiators with CSF radiators. Would the GT2 setup hurt it's value? Where would I find the 997 GT2RS gearing and lightweight Flywheel?

Nice, the CSF radiators are a nice upgrade when replacing the older, worn, stock units. I do not think that upgrading to a GT2 set up would hurt your car's value... I view the GT2 conversion as an upgrade and preventative maintenance because the original 996TT set ups fail frequently and just feel terrible and inconsistent when compared to a proper GT2 conversion which is solid and consistent. If you need help sourcing the 997 GT2 RS gearing and the clutch/flywheel parts & hardware let me know and I'll help you out.

Here is a great clutch kit for the track or performance street!

I'm in need of either a new stock first gear or perhaps upgrading to the gt2rs 1&2 gears. Are you able to point me in the right direction? Also, can I just replace those two parts or is there anything else that would need to be done for that upgrade? I just had a Sachs 2.5 and synchro replaced to try and fix a grinding first gear but now my first gear won't even hold and pops right out?! Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

use kevins clutch and rebuild the trans woth 997gt2 gearing in 1,2,3. add steel syncros for all 6 gears. 996gt3 shift lever install and have it all done by bill rader in vegas. cost will be about 7000$ plus the clutch and removal and reinstall. this will give more use of the lower gears and longer life on the syncros. add in a 996gt2 slave conversion and you now have a firmer clutch feel no worries about slave failure ever again

all in your looking at 10800$ in parts and labor for a fully bulletproof trans upgrade
