Default Exhaust tone, single vs dual?

I have a 2.7 and I like the sound of the single exhaust port but it looks like a butt hole, is there a difference between the sound of the single and dual?

No. If you really don't like the look, maybe remove it and paint it with high-temp paint, or get fancy and send out for ceramic powder coating. CCP Coatings in Detroit offers get product & quality, and even has several color choices for exhaust parts.

Is it easy to remove or do you have to weld something?

Be diligent regarding Fabspeed. Many people complain their exhaust tips discolor (rainbow) after heat cycling. I don't know if they've fixed that completely. Also, go on CCP's web site and look at their work and color choices. GL

I recently changed mine and there was no difference that I could discern. I also have the PSE installed, but I don't think it matters. If you're in no hurry, just keep a close eye on the part forums on the usual sites & eBay - I bought my factory dual sport tips for $125.

Simple R&R. Best to have a buddy with a long bar to help spread things, but it's really just a few aircraft style exhaust clamps.

You will spend more time fussing around making certain it's adjusted and aligned properly than the actual removal and replacement.

Just watch out for cheap Chinese imitations with names like Schnell and Circuit Werks. Their fitment is poor and some of the tips have reduced tail pipe opening resulting in restricted air flow.
Also note that 987 and 981 tail pipes are interchangeable.
Keep an eye on the classifieds and you'll find a genuine Porsche part ...

I've heard the single exhaust on the base and the dual exhaust on the S, and there's a significant difference in sound. But they are two different engines, so that could be a big factor. BTW the sound on the single exhaust was superior IMO.

Hahaha. That’s about the funniest description of an exhaust that I’ve heard!

To be clear for the OP -- It was actually the sound of the 2.7 v 3.4 that you found superior - not single or dual outlet.

Engine sound might just be the only thing the 2.7 has over the 3.4. There shouldn't be one concern for the OP to swap the single outlet for the dual -- just is not that much, if any, difference in sound, but a whole lotta upside for the look.

I have driven the 718 and even thought its quicker it sounds tragic to me. So it looks like I can swap out the single spout for the dual with no concerns, thanks!
