Default M030 ROW suspension differences

Hi all,

I was looking at these kits from Suncoast for my 2002 cab. Certain kits are priced at $200 more, specifically the the Carrera 4 coupe (6 speed and tip) and the cabrio 6 speed (tip cabrio is standard price). I asked them why there is a difference in price and they said the springs have a different part number that Porsche charges more for.

Does anyone know specifically what the differences are in the springs? I don't understand why the 6 speed cabrio would have different springs then the tip???

C4 Tip weighs 386 lbs more than C2 6 sp. US and ROW M030 springs vary for weight and rate between models. I presume supply/demand determines the price. Check Design 911 and Carnewal for their prices. I recently purchased ROW from Design 911 because price/shipping was lowest for my C2.

Installed the Carnewal ROW M030 in the cabrioletlast summer. What a great improvement for street driving. A little bit lower but a lot more sure footed.

I was intrigued by your question, so I dug a little. The ROW M030 front springs and bump stops (for all models) can be varied to some degree to adjust spring compression/rates. But the differences in measured performance would be tiny, and severe brain trauma may occur by doing all the math. If I were wanting to buy the set from Suncoast for a C4 Coupe 6sp (1460 kg), I'd get the set for a C4 Cab 6 sp (1480kg) and save the $200. Weight distro for the C4s are all about 60/40 anyway and 20 kg front difference just doesn't merit the extra coin.

I agree. I am thinking of ordering the kit for the C2 Cab tip and save the $200. The springs should be minutely stiffer given the tip is slightly heavier.

Funny the kits for the C4 Cabs (heaviest) don't carry the $200 premium.

each models have different springs. They are all different weights. they may charge different prices but its absurd. You can shop H&R springs because they are the same as the porsche springs. They may be cheaper

$200 seems pretty small a price to pay for a suspension that is optimized by the factory engineers for the specific model you have. I'd try to save a buck or two someplace else.

I think the C2 cab tip is 45 kg heavier than mine. I'm a big dude so I will be able to compensate for that lol.

Last year, I purchased the M030 ROW from Gert/Carnewal for my 00 C2 6sp to replace the US M030 that came stock. Gert is great to work! The kit sits a little lower (maybe) than the US M030 but the ride quality and handling are night and day difference. I was expecting the ROW kit to ride rougher than the US M030. This is not the case. In everyday traffic the ride is not a harsh but when cornering on twisty roads the car stays firmly planted. With the US M030, I always felt the rear wanted to slide.

I would recommend Carnewal and this upgrade!

Yours sits lower? It didn't seem to make a difference on mine. Sure it handles better but I often wish it would have resulted in lowering the car as well.

I too wish mine sat a bit lower. I have thought about swapping the ROW springs for H&R but I don't want to ruin the ride.

I went from stock to ROW M030 a couple of years ago and have been VERY happy.

This is a great link if you want some objective technical info:

That's some good info thanks for sharing!

Looking at the spring chart, it appears that there are 2 different front and rear springs for ROW M030, only difference is one set is 3 mm longer then the other, same spring rate and gauge.

On my '04 C2 cab the front dropped around 1/2" and the rear only 1/4". Supposedly the drop is supposed to be closer to 1" up front. I put this down to the original 13 yr old suspension just being bagged out.

I installed the ROW M030 suspension (purchased from Sunset in Oregon) last weekend and have only driven around the block. I'm hoping it will settle in a little lower.
