Wheel rubbing at full turn?
Hi,
Only had my GT4 a few days. I notice when I turn the wheel fully say in a parking lot to move, there is a definite rubbing sound. Is this normal? I'm assuming its bad and I am hitting some part of the wheel well or such...

This should not occur with a stock setup. Likely an an alignment is necessary. Rubbing did not occur with my car stock, or with a mild track alignment. However, later I did have to use "caster pucks" to compensate when I purchased another set of wheels with slightly different front offset.

Looking at the photos from your other thread... Looks like your car is lowered a bit.

Mine has been lowered and wheelbase extended a bit. It rubs toward full lock, but has never been a problem. Tires are fine, just a light scuff mark on the wheel well liner. No worries.

This is a common problem with these cars. My 2002 Boxster does it, as does my 2003 Turbo.
You can "see" how this can happen. In a parking lot turn the steering wheel full lock and then shut off the engine. Get out and at ground level in front the car look at the contact of the front tires with the pavement. The outside tire tread will be flat on the pavement. The inside front tire will have nearly 1/2 of its tread off the pavement.
Under a slow sharp turn the inside wheel/tire follows an incorrect (slightly) radius and because it is is lightly loaded will scrub/slip at low speed. (Cold tires make this worse as does worn tires.)

If the suspension is stock and the right wheels/tires (factory sanctioned sizes) are fitted what is probably happening is the front tires, well, the inside front tire, under full lock is scrubbing and this is what you are hearing/feeling.

Since do a little bit but that's because I'm running 265/35/19 tires up front.

Mine makes a high pitched squeal at 100% lock. Back off even slighly from 100% and it goes away. I recall reading somewhere here on RL that the wheel is hitting the brake duct, but never confirmed since needing 100% lock is so rare for me.

Not sure where the OP is located but I get this in cold weather. Goes away in the spring.

Not when I read it on my phone with Garage Talk.

Hitting duct or something makes sense to me. I’m used to the full rotate slippage on the ground due to camber from my 981S. This definitely seemed more like rubbing based on sound it wasn’t just wheel slipping on ground.
Thanks
