Default Table size for engine drop

Hello Gents,

Setting everything in motion to drop my engine.

When I did my 3.2 aircooled I used a 24" x 28" table to drop it on and I was uncomfortable with it as I work by myself.

I want to build a table to drop my TT motor on using an engine stand that I will build up probably using 2" x 6" studs.

What is the best size table to make? 30" x 40" is the wheel spacing for my engine stand, but I could go bigger?

If you could do it all over again what size would you make? Height?

Thanks
Rod

1000 lb harbor freight hydraulic table does the job better than any homemade unit. cheaper as well

25% discount expires today (although the 20% is available regularly) 25% gets you below 200 bucks for the table.

I should have mentioned that I have a lift, so I do not need a hydraulic table. Just a table.

i have a lift as well. the hyd table allows you to wheel the drive;ine out from under the car when its lifted off . then you can raise the table to comfortably work on the engine while sitting on a stool. it really does work well

If I can find a hydraulic table for $300 I would get one. Still seems small to me though.

Some of the reviews of the HF table claim it doesn't have a mechanical lock and it drops a bit when left overnight... HF often runs through several versions of their products so it's hard to tell if those flaws and complaints are on the current version or not. Anybody buy one fairly recently that can comment?

yes, most leak internally over night. 1st one purchased leaked-down overnight with no weight on it. I returned it and 2nd one leaked-down 2" overnight with a 500 lb load. I figured that was good enough.
