Where is reverse lock-out mechanism?
I have been bothered by occasional hang-ups on 3-2 downshift. I bled the clutch as first step to solving problem. Didn't help much.
I always thought it felt more like I was going thru reverse lock-out and hanging up there in no-man's land.
Where is the lock-out mechanism implemented? In the linkage or in the tranny?
Anyone else have have a problem with lock-out weakening?
Thanks for help,
Dan

Its has to be inside the tranny. The linkage has not stops or lockouts.
How fresh are the bushings in your linkage? My C2, the bushings were crumbling and the transmission was difficult to get into some gears. I replaced them all and the shifting improved immensely.

This is what I first suspected. Pulled off tray and inspected and all parts looked OK as far as I can tell. At least some parts were replaced by shop when engine was dropped about a year ago. Just not sure which ones though.

The plastic material looked nice and white. Pictures of failed joints I've seen appeared yellow. Talked to tech. He thinks its the gate inside the tranny. If I'm careful the 3-2 shift doesn't hang, but when it does, its stopped dead.
I've been thinking he may have changed tranny fluid. I had gone to Redline (I think) synthetic early on because shifting was so heavy and imprecise. Made a world of difference. Maybe he put something else in. He's an old racer. He might have gone for something heavier weight.

How's the coupler bushings between the shift rod and the transmission?
I replaced mine a few months ago - one bushing was completely gone, and another on its way out. That kept reverse and fifth difficult to engage.

Thanks for suggestion. I had glanced at it while in clutch bleed process, but didn't inspect it. Didn't know there was a bushing in there. Next time its on the lift, I'll take a look.
