Good write-up. It would have been a GREAT write-up if WD-40 and Duct tape were mentioned :-)

jeez thanks CCE these are superb i just pickd up some pc parts , including valve cover, chain tensioner covers.. and despite my instructions they pc'd both sides and the contact surfaces... that stuff is realy slippery... my weekend will now be grinding gently these surfaces, twin plug monster race race engine so no stone unturned... even for a diy guy... thanks very very much frank

I would add "Too Much Heat".

Despite the fact that ICE's run on heat, we seem to run into endless problems when there is too much heat in the wrong place or the wrong time. Plus heat produced by brakes and other components. And heat effects suffered by drivers, especially in race cars.
