Way better then the C63. But get it in the sport back / wagon. I have one as a daily driver. Small, very quick and practical. I can fit in two mountain bikes (take wheels off and lay down on top of each other) or carry five people and still comfortably just mountain cruise by when I feel like it.
Understeer, just fit some Michelins and the wider front tyres. Neutralises it and the new model is lighter in the front as well I understand.
If that doesn't win you over.. dial up the engine sound.

What a timely post ! ; I was in the VW / Audi dealer the other day having a job done on my GTi and wandered around the lots for a while to look at new cars . Among all the SUV's and RS5, RS7, etc I found a couple S3's - really loved the look of the car in gray / red interior . If it was available with a manual box I'd have gone in and done the deed . I really like the trim proportions and low key look . There was a rumor that the car was going to get the manual box since it shares the drivetrain with the Golf R which is available with DSG or manual . I've been a VW guy for 40 years so we'll probably go with the R , but few cars grabbed me the way that the S3 does . I think as an everyday car it would be great . Balance wise it's not going to be a BMW M car , but it also doesn't have the bad Karma ( and I'm being very kind in putting it that way ) that BMW's do . I haven't seen one yet , but there is also the RS3 with the 400 HP 5cyl. which is probably a little much , but the car itself still stays somewhat under the radar .

would of chosen sportback but we don't get it here in North America.
Don't like the looks of the focus.

Do it. You won't be disappointed.
I moved to a plain S3 as my daily about 15 mo ago. I've been thru a lot of dailies the last being an E92 M3. The S3 has that perfect (for me) balance of sportiness, lightness, handling and interior ergonomics that works for me. It's small enough to dart around in traffic and has enough pull (especially after adding a tune) to keep me happy. I can fold down the seats and throw my bike in the back and go anywhere. The magnetic dampers are awesome. The RS3 is just more of the same. The initial reviews also seem to say they've fixed the biggest liability of older versions: terminal understeer.
Happy to answer any further questions.

But 6.2L V8 sound with endless leg room in the front!
thats my biggest fear I'll miss the noise. Every morning I start it it barks back at me( also have xpipe). more practical for 12 months or Beautiful noise.

My $.02. I have never tried the RS3, but I got my wife a sport package S3 that I drive regularly. My take is that it's a great car... for her. Quick, fairly polished, poised and fun up to about 6/10ths. It's a car I'm happy to cruise around in.
Pushing beyond 6/10ths on typical backroads, however, is less than rewarding. Steering feedback is typical audi uncommunicative. The car gets out of synch, with mild turbo lag and the DCT making the car feel ragged well before it should. Below 7/10ths it feels better in most ways than my old DCT R32. At and above that the R32 has it covered. The kicker for me is that I used to love attacking back roads early morning in the R32, and despite the extra speed I simply don't enjoy doing the same in the S3.
I understand the RS3 is a different, much improved beast, and I also understand most don't choose a DD based on that last three tenths. If it were me, however, I'd be looking elsewhere, maybe M2 or even Focus RS for "my" car. YMMV.
