Default Budget $80k...what should I get?! 991.1S VS 4S VS 997GTS/Turbo VS 991.2 CPO??

Hey guys, looking at getting my first 911. I have been to the porsche driving experience in Atlanta and had an amazin time!! I did the S vs 4S. I had a fantastic time and just fell in love with the 911! I had a few things creep up and I have decided to lower my budget a little. I think I am going to try to keep it in the 80's. I have seen quite a few CPO 991.2 cars in the 80's. So here is my predicament...do I go with a base 991.2 that probably won't have many options but will have the turbo, or do I go with a 991.1 and get a more optioned car? I do love the new tech of the 991.2. Or should I go with the GTS or Turbo of a 997?? I know this is a difficult question for you to answer, and that truly only I can answer this question; so what would you get right now if you had a budget of $80-89k?? Thank you for your thoughts!

CPO 991.1. Surprised you found a 991.2 that cheap. I got a loaded '13 C2S in October for $75k with 25k miles.

MT or PDK? I see there's a '17 for $85k certified in Houston with MT. You should be able to find a loaded '14 or '15 for mid 80s

Every RBAM owes it to himself to own a Porsche Turbo at some time in his life. 997.1 Turbo 6MT. The best one in the world (well, close to it) can be had for in the 80s. I'm talking crazy low miles. I bought one a few years ago with 9k miles at 7 model years old.

And believe it or not, compared to today's 911 even a 997 or 997TT feels like a visceral, analog, kick-yo-*** kinda car. Which may not be what you want. But it should at least be on your radar.

I loved my 996TT and 997TT, but got it out of my system and my last two Porsches have been more about finesse.

But never underestimate just how good a water-cooled 911 Turbo is in the twisties. Lots of people have positioned them as the fast-in-a-straight-line-but-not-made-for-the-mountains boulevardier Porsche. Nuh-uh. Wonderful cars, and they carry a higher measure of respect from other car guys, if that matters to you. Just seeing that word on the decklid

speaks volumes.

EDIT: Here you go. Done:

PDK. I know I can find a 991.2 for my budget but it will be base. That's the question...would you take a base 991.2 or a 991.1S/4S or a 997 turbo/gts

For $80K? I would try to find a 991.1 GTS, and if not possible, then a 991.1 S.

You won't find a 991.1 GTS in the $80k range yet. But you will find some nicely loaded 991.1S's and perhaps even a rare one with a powerkit (same exact engine as the heavier GTS) in $80k range - there is even one in the HFS thread in the high $80s right now with the X51 Powerkit.

Any 991.2 base that you can find for $80k is going to be a stripper and likely either have issues or high mileage for a <1 year car.

If your budget is truly $80k, I'd look for a lower mileage 991.1S.

There are 6 right now for sale under $90k. By the time I am going to be getting one, there will be even more. So don't worry about that. Just curious if you would pick a base 991.2 or something else for the same price range. Thanks again!
