The engine is not meager...that's for sure. It's derived from the GT1 block for Motorsports by Hans Mezger...

Also, I'd be curious about the story behind the crack in the crankcase and who repaired it...

Sure crack is from a hit.
And if it's from speed gallery was probably raced,,what car did Dan have this in? How many of those miles are track miles?

The weld is in a interior position between the motor and the clutch.
No hit force can get there, without destroying the entire crankcase.

If you have a personal problem with Dan, please solve it him.

Thank you for staying professional on my thread.
If you are interested in the engine, I will take to a professional you trust and have it inspected.

Certainly not trying to play devils advocate, but I am in the process of having the same damage repaired to one of my 997 engines. This damage came from a left rear hit and broke the case and bell housing on the transmission, all localized to this area as visible. The case was welded and sounds identical to what you are describing here; out of curiosity it would be interesting to hear how it happened on yours also.

GLWS as Im sure it will sell at that price

Are there any pics of that weld? What does the readout say about the number of over-revs for both type 1 and type 2 (if any)?

I'm in the market for an engine and may be interested. Long way to ship it to me in NC LOL.

So with the crack, what are the consequences? Will it have a higher chance to break again? Is the engine not as sound? Very interested in the engine but want to know the pitfalls?
Thanks

It's going to have a greater chance to crack again considering now that the weld is stronger than the case in that area. That's a lot of money for a engine with that type of repair on it.

Let's level set. I don't have a problem with Dan or speed gallery. They are well known here.

However the motor looks as its been in a race car. So, a prospective buyer is going to want to know race hours or miles. Stating 15k miles as if all street is disingenuous. So is stating a crack, not showing it, nor how it happened. And most likely it DID come from a hit.

Transparency will sell your engine, especially with this being your first post.

Welcome to rennlist!
