Bugger, don't mind pay local FX & GST but the mark up makes it worth running the gauntlet through customs for the +$1000 limit. With those sources have you ever been pinged? I am looking at a Europipe exhaust and at $6.5K NZD I'd like to hope I could avoid the unnecessary taxation

Yes, customs will keep you honest and charge GST appropriately. I sometimes get caught out with consolidating a lot of small stuff with youshop.

Also try Sonnen Porsche for genuine Porsche parts. They are usually cheaper again than sunset.

It used to be that small packages would randomly get through, but now I'm pretty much rogered each time no matter size or price.

Just received a packaged from Pelican via YouShop. Straight through. I've never had one stopped that shouldn't. I try to make the goods and freight no more than $380. In this case it was USD 230 plus NZD $24 for shipping so about NZD 377, which is below the $400 magic point.

Above that it pays to order in one big go to avoid multiple customs assessment fees.

Recommend considering an Unobtainium or a Kline, both sound good and cheaper to land. Also recommend the steering wheel upgrade, did it in mine and made a world of difference. If you're around Auckland at all you can have a listen to the Kline catless I have installed.

This thread is resurrected! Nice.

I bought a Turbo tacho on eBay last month (it had always had a NA tacho) and was bracing myself for the customs hit. Turns out the German seller put €250 on the customs sticker and it slipped thru.

Cheers, I'll check those out. What's NZ laws around emissions and noise like? I am originally from Aus where things are ridiculously strict.

Bugger I am in Welly.

for a rear engine car you need to be lower than 94 db @ 3200 rpm while stationary (not under load). Also needs cats if your car was registered after 2010 (I think?).

my car doesn't fit either criteria, but I've had my exhaust on for two years with no issues.

Wow, so lenient! 94db is pretty loud! Mine's an 07 TT so cat seem optional legally then. NZSkater, whats your exhaust, do I read right that you are running cat-less Kline, but still muffled? Where'd you source this from?

Yeah I am - it sounds good IMO but tbh it's probably a bit too loud outside the car at full throttle. only reason I haven't put the cats back in is because it's a bit of a chore! Inside the car it just sounds good, especially in a tunnel - I can't help but give it a nudge under every overpass or through each tunnel.

This is the exhaust I have installed, the cat section can be replaced with a cat delete pipe:
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...c4d67f3f94.jpg

I sourced it from Kline directly. I bought mine during a period of time where their jig was out of alignment, so my first exhaust didn't fit properly. They sent a second at no cost, and it now bolts up perfectly although the tips are a couple of mm higher than factory. Hasn't melted the bumper at all, and I've had it out on the track etc so definitely heated it up enough

If I was doing it again, I'd get an Unobtanium - a little bit more expensive but they look and sound incredible and are hand made, and from what I have read and seen (on a McLaren) are of exceptional quality workmanship wise.

Regarding cat delete - it's when the car was registered in NZ that determines legality, not the year it was built. As mine's an import and registered in '13 it is outside of the acceptable range.

Currently undertaking the process to add shift paddles to my tiptronic 997TT. I bought an additional steering wheel from UK and got stung on customs! I don't mind so much paying the 15% GST, but do find the additional $55 for MPI and customs clearance a **** take.

Yeah it's pretty harsh! The paddles make a huge difference IMO, I'm really glad I did the same.

Guess I gotta look at it like a speeding ticket, you're going to get stung sooner or later, just gotta remember all the times you dont

How'd you go about the mod, just DIY using the threads here? Seems pretty simple if you take a bit of time, measure twice, cut once, splice/solder the wires per the diagrams and enjoy.

I don't remember splicing or soldering anything! I used the adapter to get multi function working as well, but even that was virtually plug and play (did have to rewire slightly). With the updated Porsche controller unit and a quick visit to Porsche to "enable" PDK, it worked 100%.

Followed this guide: https://www.planet-9.com/reviews/Cay...heel-swap.html

And this adapter: https://gpsadapter.us/products/stmv1
