Default Porsche 996 Headlight Conversion Covers (all new design)

Category: Exterior - Body Parts
Price (no $ sign please): $350
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (select ONLY those which apply): 996
Location (Region): SoCAl
Item Condition: Brand New

A few years ago when I got my car, I started looking for good headlight modification options for my 996 that would give it more of a classic round headlight look. I found the same options as many of you probably have, ugly headlight covers which make the car look worse (imo) or a 997 front end conversion. After 2 years of working on a better design, I have the first pieces ready to sell.

The piece is made out of polyurethane (same materials as bumpers), flexible, impact/weather resistant, and can be painted normally. I 3d scanned the original lights to make sure it fits snugly on top of the existing lens. The covers come as unpainted black polyurethane, prepped for painting, and can be adhered with 3m double sided tape or silicone glue. The price for this initial small run is $390 for the set (L and R) including shipping via USPS ground. If interested in purchasing, please visit www.varielautomotive.com/.

A couple notes: this version is for headlights without the washers, however they will fit over your lights if you are willing to remove the chrome caps. Removal is easy and the washers can be deactivated by pulling the corresponding fuse.

Wow, I think this is literally the first time I've ever seen a headlight cover mod that looks right. Though I don't mind the 996 look (me, myself, and that other guy about exhausts the pool of crazies, I think), this looks really proper.

That looks really good, but aren't there other lights under the covered up part like fog or driving light plus the front turn signal?

Thanks for the compliments. The foglight gets covered up (which I don't use often but it may be an issue for some). The turn signals are not covered up and can be seen just fine since they are in the circular area of the headlight on the MK2 light

As for MK1 I have gotten a lot of requests and will be looking into it.

very interested in these. have a couple q's.

-if i put headlight film over the headlights, then put this over the film, would this stay on?
-is that two tones of paint, one surrounding the main lamp and one covering the foglight?

Yes, if you have headlight film it should stay on fine. I actually put headlight film on my lights before adhering the covers and I think it is a good idea in general.

Yes, I painted the headlight covers two tones. I had my paint shop paint the ring around the headlight a darker non-metallic grey and the part covering the foglight the same color as the body. Depending on the color of your car, you may want to try a different color combination.

didn't mean to respond to the post above mine... I'd also like to see a shot of the top of the fender looking to the lights so I could see fitment in a few areas . From the front they look great.
Thanks

Execution looks spot on but (just my opinion) It looks like saggy breasts. Sorry but the OEM look is my favorite but.... I'm just about the biggest 996 fan there is so I'm not the best judge for a product to mask the OEM looks.

Great solution for those that like the more oval look, though.

Here are some pictures from the fender and the back of the car looking towards the lights. Let me know if this is what you are looking for. I'll try to take a picture of the unfinished lights tonight.
