Yes
I purchased a Numeric shifter and cable set.
The numeric works fine, but the cable noise drives me insane, and I have Kline headers, 200 X pipe and Tubi mufflers.
The numeric has adjustsble shifter height that intrigued me, as I have a shoulder and hand injury and been trying different shifters and cables that would work best for me.

The numeric requires much more force to transfer lever from one gear to the next, and twice if you are dropping from 5th to 3rd.

Once committed to the numeric and the install it was too expensive to take a step back.
I purchased a brand new Factory Porsche 997ssk as my first upgrade, then removed it, it is just like new.

But I was intrigued like a kid in a candy store about the numeric set up.

Oh well, it will make so one a great buy for the someone

Nice, i've got the shifter on the way which will replace a standard 997 (my first upgrade too). I'm not game enough to swap the cables! Nor do I feel the need to for me.

I'm intrigued by the ball bearing setup and the height adjust-ability, what have you set yours at? I'll most likely set it at the mid level.

Why are the cables so noisy?

It was first set at the lowest of the three points.
it was a real short rifle like shift.
but because of the limited strength in the right arm, after twice getting caught in traffic, I had to change it to middle point.

I went with the cables in addition to the shifter, because of the strength of the cables and the hardware on the ends.

I did purchase the addtional rubber hose covering for the cables, but for some reason they did not get installed. When you are bouncing around 2500 rpm -3500 rpm in second or third gear, the wind(torque vibration from solid center cables) is loaded I can't even hear my engine with a very load exhaust . It actually vibrates in the cabin.

Once I can get access to a lift again, I will install the hoses in hopes to silence the cables.
If you had a stock 997 and not an upgraded 997SSK, it will be a huge difference for you.
The setting in the middle shifter position is about equal to 997SSK shifter travel, but it requires more arm strength to disengage and engage at each shift when using numeric cables.

But the difference is the rigidness of the shift it self. It is like the old "HURST SUPER SHIFTER", Back in the days of american muscle cars thumping out 450 horsepower in 3500 car with a standard transmission.

This is a complete contrast to the super smooth shifting of a 997SSK , where gear changes can be done with just as little effort as you want.

Both achieve the same result, 5 people will have 5 different views on which is better. But in the end, it's your car, so it is only what is better for you that counts.

I kow of people who bought numeric shifter and not the cables, but soon after went for the numeric cables for the total effect.

Hope this helps in someway.

This is a great buy for a like brand new shifter.

Thanks for the info! I don't want to go with the cables just yet but i'll see how the shifter goes. I think it will be enough for me.

Not looking for sure short but a more solid feel, if the numeric doesn't work out ill be going with a 997 GT3 which has a standard throw + factory metal bushings.

Anyway GLWTS!!
