PCA recently listed this as one of their 5 cars to buy right now:

The sight of a nice 2004 GT3 for sale in The Mart a few weeks ago for under $60,000 made us realize that the time to buy a 996 GT3 is right now. They’re rare, powered by a Hans Mezger designed engine with no IMS bearing issues, and they’re very special cars that ushered in the modern, water-cooled GT series. Carp about the looks if you like, but we’ll remind you that nobody makes fun of the headlights on a GT1. The 2004 GT3 has significant appreciation potential.

Man would I love to put some of the interior back in, add a stock muffler (with quick release) and go street/track. Then casually collect the parts to add the AC back in and eventually re-install. Very cool opportunity.

agreed. and at this price point there is plenty of room to gather stock parts and still be way under market for a super low mile 6-3

Good luck with sale!

The answer to that is quite simple. " honey, of course I need another yellow GT3. One for the street and one for the track. You wouldn't want me risking the beautiful and very valuable car on the track, now would you? If i smash the track car into the wall i can always sell motor/tranny/suspension and get all of my money back. Win / win ".
