Sorry about that. New here and still feeling my way around. However, I am *not* new to forums and should know better than to type before reading more carefully.

I have a 2007 997 with low compression in #6. Hoping to repair rather than replace, but you might end up being a last resort for me. Regardless, good luck with the sale. Engine looks pretty minty.

Man, that stinks. Are you the original owner? Was the car driven in the cold weather in CT? You using the regulation 180 degree thermostat or the lower temp 160 one?

If you have trouble in #6, you should boroscope #3 too before deciding what to do.

I have never owned a 964 so I wouldn't know. Try checking the 964 forum, maybe someone has done this conversion.

Ugh..... Sorry to hear about that. Any idea what caused this? If need be, my engine will serve you well for a replacement. Hopefully your engine gets sorted out. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Thanks, guys. I don't want to hijack this thread, but more info:

I bought the car like this. It has about 70k on it and I assume it has been driven year-round. At this point, the engine is out and the heads are off. Cylinders look good, but according to the leakdown test #6 is leaking past the rings. The car drove great down the road but skipped at idle. Hopping that some pistons and rings will save the day.

Splitting the case should be interesting.

I'd love to buy this engine, pop it in, and be done, but it's a bit of budget...which is not to say that it is priced unfairly at all.
