Default 993 3.6L Engine - Brand New Crate Motor

Category: Engine - Complete
Price (no $ sign please): $15000
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Location (Region): NorCal
Item Condition: Brand New

This is a brand new 993 3.6L crate motor that I planned to build into a 3.8.

When was the last time you saw a brand new 993 crate motor?

It was professionally disassembled.

All of the parts are included except that I am substituting a brand new GT3R crank, which fits with new journals and rods instead of the original 3.6l crank.

This crank will easily take the motor to 7,000RPM!

It will be professionally packed for shipment anywhere in the world.

Are pistons and cylinders included? 3.6 or 3.8?

Default 3.6L Pistons and Cylinders are included

Yes, all of the 3.6L engine parts are included except the crankshaft which is substituted with the GT3R crank.

I already sold the 3.8L pistons and cylinders. I do still have the 3.8L exhaust components however.

I also just added some pictures of the pistons and cylinders.

Hi Dave,

I am sorry but I don't still have the part number. It was sourced directly from Porsche AG. Do you know if the p/n is stamped somewhere on the crankshaft. If so, I will gladly open it up to retrieve it.

A highly reputable Porsche engine builder in Portland told me that the new buyer will only need to buy bearings (you would want to upgrade these anyways) and rods. Everything else is shown in the pictures. BTW, he recommended Carrillo Rods.

Best,

-jeff

There is a part number stamped on it.

You will need custom rods, bearings for the rods and the crank. Also, I believe it takes a different nose bearing, and I believe you will need a different pulley.

But also there is no point in having a gt3 crank and stronger rods if you don't upgrade the cams, pistons (because of the cams), oil pump...to name a few.

I mentioned to the seller (not to hijack the thread), but if any buyer wants I have a perfect balanced and polished 993 crank that I could trade for the gt3 crank.

I already have a gt3 crank that I am installing in my 964 engine, but I'd like to pick up one for a future build on my 997.

You can pm if you are interested.

Good luck with the sale

Thanks for commenting.

I have confirmed that only the rods and bearing need to be swapped out. No other parts are required to use my crank in this motor.

I humbly disagree with your assertion that the top end has to be changed as well. Many Porsche racers here in the United States upgrade to the beefier crank the first time their weak stock 993 crank breaks. Been there, done that!

The part number is 996 102 021 91. This is NLA (no longer available) from Porsche.

These cranks are a quantum leap above the standard 964 or 993 cranks. Many racers (like myself) have learned that the hard way!

Just an option, I think it could help you sell faster.

From my experience on here, the person that buys this would want a stock engine.
