I don't mean to sound accusatory of an innocent party if I'm wrong, but that sounds like a common scam that's been going around with private party car selling. Please do a search of "car buying paypal scam" and be cautious, OP. Good luck with sale

I am pretty sure you are correct. The messages stopped when I told him I was not comfortable using PayPal but I would be happy to take a wire transfer from a US bank. Thanks for the heads-up though!
