Cup engines are rebuilt frequently because they are sprint motors, built to live at 8400+RPM and have much tighter tolerances, thus the parts "time out" and/or stretch (rods), and need refreshing to prevent a catastrophic failure from fatigue. I am no expert, but this is what I've been told about Cup engines from 3 separate builders.

This engine is different. It is pretty much still a street 3.6 motor, but bored out to 3.8, with some "special sauce" Porsche Motorsport parts added that kick it up a bit (997 Cup heads, for example).

I don't count hours, but its had about 13,000 miles added to it since the motor replacement in 2013. Maybe 1200-1500 of those are track miles, the rest are highway cruising, canyon runs, commuter miles, etc., where its just as happy. It is also fully smog compliant with stock intake, O2s, catalytic converter/headers, etc. I used to live in CA and it passed smog there about a year ago.

Hope this information helps...it really is a very cool, very unique GT3.
I have 20k miles on my only slightly more intensive 4.0 liter build and the car still has pristine oil analysis results, doesn't consume any oil (unlike ANY 991 which drinks the stuff), has consistent compression values and just made great power with a retune for a new intake / exhaust setup. These are legendary engines for a reason. Pretty stout.

Prospective buyers rest assured that this seller takes care of his cars. Been in and around this car many times...sounds exactly how a proper gt3 should sound

Sad to see it leave your stable!

Absolutely amazing car! Just bought my 07 GT3 in Dec 17, and love it!! GLWS! Had I not bought mine, I would have jumped on this for sure! I’m praying your car will sell by April 20th, but if not, come on out to the Porsche Swap meet that day at Hershey. Would be great to meet in person!

What a beauty and all done up at a great price. Sounded great on the videos. Is the muffler bypass OK (bearable) for a 1hr backroad run, or would you need earplugs? What rate springs? Lightweight (single mass) flywheel or OEM? GLWS!

Thanks for the comments. Center muffler bypass alone w/ stock headers (current setup) is very livable, the older setup with the GMG Sport Headers + GMG center bypass is quite loud. I don't have great hearing anyway (old musician), but the current setup to me is fine - no earplugs necessary. Drone is minimal, you make it as loud as you want with your right foot.

Can't recall spring rates. Dual mass stock flywheel.
