I cannot comprehend why anyone would sell that car. What can you buy with that money that will make you happier. If I had that car I wouldn't sell it for double that price.

Saw a few of these at the Amelia Island Concours d' Elegance this year, as well as same vintage 300 SL's. They are GORGEOUS and IMO as desirable as anything from that era.
Current market value on these is $1.5 million give or take - they sell fairly frequently through the major international auctions.
Collectors at this level sometimes just want to shuffle the deck a little, so I assume possibly this is the reason for sale.
