Cool FS: PC-Based PIWIS Tester

Category: Audio/Video/Electronics
Price (no $ sign please): $2500
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (select ONLY those which apply): 911, 996, 997, Cayenne, Cayman, Carrera GT
Location (Region): Midwestern
Item Condition: Used

This is an IBM T30 PC-based Porsche PIWIS system tester. This was the factory standard diagnostic and coding tool until 2010 when the PIWIS II came out.

This system is running Version 31 software, which was the last version before Porsche buried a "time bomb" feature in Version 32, which has since rendered all PIWIS systems out there large paper weights. Version 34 was the final version of PIWIS, but there are no worthwhile updates from Version 31.

PIWIS running on the T30 is much, much faster than running on a Porsche PIWIS tablet. This T30 is in excellent condition, and has a battery that will last hours.

This system will allow you to do advanced diagnostics (reading factory specific codes, which a generic OBDII reader will not do), code modules (replacing a DMU unit/ ABS unit/ climate control, etc), code keys, run system tests on the engine/ transmission (such as VarioCam Plus), change engine and transmission maps, recalibrate PSM/ ABS, data log any parameters you need, actuate the ABS for proper brake bleeding, and much more. This is also the only way to change the clutch fluid in a PDK gearbox.

With the included cable, you can handle 9X6 911/ Boxster; 9X7 911/ Boxster/ Cayman; GT1/ GT2/ GT3/ Turbo; Cayenne up until the current model. With the round pin adapter cable, you can handle all previous generation cars such at 964/ 993/ 928/ 944/ 968, etc. Current 9X1 911/ Boxster/ Cayman cars, the Panamera, and the new Cayenne require a PIWIS II.
