I did these cables on my 987.1, when I painted my center console. Amazing upgrade for confidence and durability.

Being stupidly frugal some times, I would have liked the Numeric shifter, but didn't feel like stepping up to the price. Instead, I bought a cheap CNC aluminum short shifter from Fleabay for $40. It is actually really nice. Aluminum bearing journals with delrin sleeves, just like the big boys. Adjustable tension and fore/aft, unlike OEM.

So, even if you just buy the cables alone for a good price, a cheap bastidge can make solid use of them for well less than a grand.

That would be a great solution. I've also tried the cables on a 997 with stock shifter and it felt great!
The numbness was gone and the throws were butter smooth.

Thanks for the input @BoulderGeek
