Most annoying bump ever.
So the AutoCheck and CarFax I ran before purchasing this car last year showed no accidents. But in the context of listing the car for sale I decided to run a new AutoCheck to link here. To my absolute horror it showed a [expletive deleted] accident. I have no idea what was the cause, extent of damage, or scope of repair. Maybe this explains the orange peel that a prospective purchaser pointed out. I have no way of knowing because I purchased a CPO through a Porsche dealer to not have to deal with surprises. But ... Surprise!
My approach when selling cars, motorcycles, bicycles, surfboards or anything else sold through classifieds has been to be upfront and price fairly. I know what things are worth on the open market, and what I’m willing to pay. I don’t like selling stories, but when I am forced to, they are priced fairly.
So here’s the updated AutoCheck report and the new price above.

Sorry to hear that; it sucks when Carfax/Autocheck don't start reporting until after you've bought the car (happens all the time).
But it might not be that bad. Which panels had mismatching orange peel? Also, did you check Carfax? Some states report details of accidents, and it could have been something minor that would barely affect the value. Carfax reports this additional information when available; Autocheck does not. (I despise them both, but Carfax seems to have the edge.)

Well, CarFax reports no accidents, so at the moment I prefer them, too. See CarFax Report, attached.
I've spent a fair amount of time looking at the car recently, and suspect that it was rear bumper repaint. That's where the peel is, but the color and metallic flake match to the rear fenders is great. I just can't claim to know what caused it, though the fact that it does not show on the CarFax report suggests that the issue was minor, I guess.
It'll be on here for another two weeks and then off to the 'Max.

Does the CPO purchase offer any recourse as far as the accident? I guess you would have to look at the purchase agreement to see if no prior accidents/paint/bodywork were guaranteed......You would think with the 100 plus or whatever inspection points, the dealer would see collision evidence. Kind of bull**** in my opinion that a dealer would sell a CPO car implying no accidents when they probably knew about it.......Sadly I'm sure it happens all the time though; I would be curious to know what exactly the CPO guarantees....
