up for sale is my 2006 997.1 carrera with 77,xxx miles. i am the fifth owner of this car, but all five owners have had the car in california. i have owned the car for a little over two years and it has been a dream to own and drive. the previous owner purchased the warranty from car max, transferred the warranty to me, which is good until 125,000 miles or may 12, 2019. you can purchase this car knowing that any mechanical issue (even the dreaded ims failure) will be covered under warranty. i have had the majority of the front suspension changed (i will give details below) under warranty, and only had to pay the $300 deductible. the warranty covers only mechanical failure (any engine malfunction, clutch issues, suspension issues, electrical issues), but does not cover maintenance items (oil changes, brakes, battery, fluids, tires, etc.). i called the warranty company today and they stated that the warranty can be transferred again within 30 days of sale.

the car is in great condition, but it was been in a few accidents. One occurred in january of 2012 (i don't know what damage happened here), and two others occurred when the previous owner had the car. the first accident was a mild tap on the rear bumper, where the rear bumper got resprayed (work completed in october 2014 by service king in pasadena). the second accident happened in june 2015 and work was also completed by service king in pasadena. the owner stated that his wife hit a parked car with the front passenger side bumper, causing $6,000 of damage (i have the service king invoices for both accidents).

the only issue this 911 is a creak when going over speed bumps or uneven ground (more noticeable when the steering wheel is turned). the sound is inaudible when driving on the freeway or above a certain speed (around 20 mph), but can also be heard when turning on uneven roads. when i had the majority of the suspension changed under warranty in august 2016, the shop kept changing different suspension parts in hopes of eliminating the creak, and they changed as much as they could under warranty. they were baffled by the creak and stated that it was likely a body creak from when the car was not quite properly aligned from the second accident from the prior owner. the mechanics (house automotive in pasadena) ensured me that the car is 100 percent safe to drive and that with the new suspension parts, it drives better than 99% of 2006 911's out there. i have all of the paperwork from what they changed. they told me that the creaking sound is only annoying, but would not affect performance or driving at all. in the 16 months since replacing suspension, there have been absolutely zero issues (just that annoying creak). i would welcome a pre-purchase inspection (buyer pays) before you buy.

here is everything that has been done to this car:
  • clutch, ignition coils, and spark plugs replaced at 59,000 miles
  • minor maintenance at 55,000 miles
  • transmission replaced at 68,000 miles
  • abs repair and window actuator replacement in may, 2015
  • driver seat electric adjuster replaced in july, 2015
  • clear corner lights installed in december, 2015
  • strut bearing, shock support, vibration damper, shock bellows, wishbone, tie rods, trailing arms, crossrail subframe replaced at 72,000 miles (july, 2016)
  • drive belt replaced in july, 2016
  • new battery installed (under warranty for another year)
  • silver front crest installed in july, 2016
  • gundo hack performed on muffler in december, 2016
  • oem black porsche sportdesign rims (zero curb rash or scratches) purchased in january, 2016 for $2500 (tires have around 50% tread left)
  • plastidipped carrera emblem and exhaust tips in july, 2017 (can easily be peeled off)
as you can see, a ton of work has been done on this car. you can rest assured that any mechanical issue will be covered with only a $300 deductible.

the first half of the pictures show the beauty of this car, and the second half shows any cosmetic flaws that i could see (short description under each of the flaw pictures). there are some small scratches (the previous owner touched them up) on the hood and a few pencil point rock chips on the front bumper and hood. from a few feet away, they are unnoticeable as you can't see them at all in the photos. as you can tell, i wanted to be 100% honest on what you are getting with this car. if you can overlook the creak, you are getting a beautiful car that drives great (and you will have peace of mind with that warranty!). feel free to message me with any questions. thanks!
