Default FVD Brombacher Exhaust for 987.2 Cayman

Category: Engine - Exhaust
Price (no $ sign please): $950
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part fits (select ONLY those which apply): Cayman
Location (Region): NorCal
Item Condition: Used

I have a used FVD exhaust that was removed from my 2011 Cayman S. The exhaust is the FVD Brombacher "sound edition" and the link to the exhaust is here: https://www.fvd.net/us-en/BES987C50F...el-2x90mm.html. The exhaust is used but perfectly functional and all of the parts that come with the exhaust are included. In full disclosure, it was only replaced since it was damaged in a minor rear end accident - there is some minor creasing and bumps that I've tried to document in the photos below.

I am in the SF Bay Area and would prefer a local pickup since it is very bulky and difficult to ship. Asking $950 or best offer.

All that comes with the exhaust

FVD Part: BES 987 C50 F0S

Wear and tear on the exhaust tips

Minor dent to the top right of the exhaust tips

Minor dent on the inside (front facing) portion of the muffler

Close up of the dent

Default SoCal buyer

Hey I’m interested in your used exhaust. I have a 09 Boxster that I’ve been meaning to do an exhaust upgrade on. Could you provide a better picture of the dent in the exhaust tip? Unfortunately it looks like they are not I terchangable so if Someone bought it they would have to live with it. I live in SoCal do that’s not a huge distance to ship. Would you be willing if I had a reasonable offer?

FWIW, I bought a similar FVD Sound exhaust, with cats, last year for my 987.1. I bought it out of state from a member on Planet-9.

He was out of state, but we met up on a trip that I had scheduled, and I used a UPS store to ship the setup 1200 miles. It was 40lbs, if I recall, and something like $100 with no extra insurance and $135 raising insurance to $2000. I did my own packing, using heavy cardboard boxes purchased at the nearest Home Depot.

The FVD exhaust is great if you want a bit better flow, without going full track-ready Borla sound. My Cayman had the IPD plenus and 82mm TB, but was choked on stock exhaust. It's still choked on stock headers, but the rear section alone helped sound, flow, and dropped weight.

Replied back to your PM, Amit. The tips are indeed not interchangeable - I'll get better pictures of the condition of the dent and the tips. I'd have to buy packing material to ship it since the box the exhaust is currently in is not big enough to safely ship it.

Thanks for the info. I've already considered going a similar route with packing materials from a hardware store but wanted to see if anyone in the immediate area would be interested. From what I understand, the 987.1 and 987.2 exhausts are actually different since the 987.1 has secondary cats in the stock exhaust itself. The 987.2 places the secondary exhausts directly behind the O2 sensors so even the stock exhaust does not have additional cats. I got a lot of compliments on the sound of the FVD exhaust but it runs a bit too loud for Laguna (~93db under some conditions). I ended up replacing it with a valved exhaust to try to mitigate this issue.

Bump

I actually have a short clip with the sound of this exhaust going down the straight at Laguna Seca in case you want to hear what it sounds like. Let me know and I'll PM you a link.

Any idea if this will work on a 2011 Boxster Spyder?

The FVD site doesn't show it on their listing of exhaust systems for a 987.2 Boxster Spyder (see link below). You can try giving FVD US offices a call and ask - Rhonda is really helpful and is usually the one answering the phones for sales questions.
