What's a good way to keep the frame and plate from abrading the paint, behind the plate, on the rear bumper?

Thank you.
If your car doesn't have a bracket behind it to protect the cars paint, I use rubber washers. I found these on Amazon:

I find it hilarious when I see/hear cyclists that have All The weight saving goodies, yet the person is 20lbs min over weight.

Same goes for “weight loss” on a street car. Especially when you get to 3.7 oz!

Spoken like a guy with too many GT street cars. I pulled the sun visors off my 964 to save 1.75 lbs. Everything gets weighed, right down to the 1.75 oz. from the air box cover cut-out. To each, his zone.

FYI, had to grind my Washington license plate down a little bit to get it to fit inside the frame.

Of course you could ditch a frame altogether and save 3.7oz.

If you wanted to save even more weight you can remove that heavy steel plate bracket and use the rectangular black plastic 996 mount. It also uses smaller screws so you might save some weight there as well . . .

I was wondering when someone would point that out, LOL. But you know I like shiny track cars Al!

The 993/964 steel plate brackets make no sense to me. I have plastic nuts inside the bumper. I just wish the PO used the rubber washers that the OP recommends.

Massachusetts plate, same issue. All US plates are supposed to be 6"x12", but the plates aren't very precise and tend to be a fraction larger. Beautiful bracket, but it would be helpful to have just a bit more tolerance to fit the plate.

Mine arrived a couple days ago and it looks great. I also had the issue with the plate being too large, supplier might want to take note and make the opening slightly larger.

I bought some aluminum screw covers also from amazon, perfect match but a bit too bulky. I need to find some black bolts.

Agree with appearance and size comment, and shipping was commendably quick. My Florida plate was line-to-line lengthwise in the frame and a millimeter or so too big vertically. Belt sander fixed the issue but that might allow our corrosive atmosphere to start eating the plate.
