This early production 1978 Porsche 928 is #338. Finished in Silbermetallic over a Black & White Pasha interior with refinished 15” refinished Phone Dial wheels, new center caps, no sunroof, no rub strips and a Borla cat-back exhaust system. Power is provided by a 4.5-liter SOHC V8 paired with a rear-mounted 5-speed manual transaxle.

I purchased #338 from Jim Doerr of 928 Classics in March of 2018. The previous owner, also a well regarded 928 enthusiast, commissioned significant reconditioning to #338 as detailed below. Prior to that #338 was located in Texas where in 2013 it received a good quality glass-out full respray in its original color. @Mrmerlin continued the reconditioning of #338 also detailed below. The air conditioning has been full sorted and blows very cold as shown in the instant-read thermometer photo in the gallery.

*Note: The transmission is difficult to shift into second gear when the car is cold and there is a rattling noise when the clutch pedal is released, but goes away when the clutch pedal is pushed in.

#338 exhibits several 1978 only features such stainless steel gas cap, battery box cover, small louver center vents and chrome door lock surrounds.

Also included with #338 are its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, owner’s manuals, original spare tire, Webster spare tire compressor, jack with bag, tool kit with yellow screwdriver, OSRAM spare bulb kit, spare belt with tag, two spare spark plugs, tire changing gloves, first aid kit, two keys, two sets of floor mats and complete nine-volume Porsche 928 Workshop Manuals.
