This original 1978 Type 2 VW Westfalia Camper Van is for driving and camping. This Bus is immaculate! I get tons of attention wherever I go with it. I have owned many different Westfalia Campers throughout the years and this is my best one for several reasons. It is in great condition, with very little, if any, visible or nonvisible rust. Purchased in La Jolla, CA, in 2013 it has never had a problem passing CA Smog requirements (this can be a big problem for CA VW bus owners where the car is considered non-operational and must be sold out of state). The engine runs great and has been totally reliable. The past owner had invested in a complete paint refurbishing and I have continued to restore the interior to it’s original splendor. During the restoration process all seat upholstery and cushions have been redone with original manufacturer material. New German seals. New carpeting, suede headliner, and paneling has been wrapped with OEM upholstery. Original front seat table (extremely rare) and back seat expanding table. Westfalia white reconditioned fiberglass top and pop-up canvas are in excellent condition and fully functional. Westfalia Deluxe Edition amenities include a sink with 7-gallon water tank and icebox. Hard to find original fold-out center front table. Upgraded Hella headlights (so you can actually see when you drive at night) and spare tire in interior storage cabinet built into cupboard system. The body is straight as an arrow. All doors and trunk are all aligned like they should be. Incredible amount of attention and detail has been placed in this car. Tires are like new! New Bamboo shelf installed provides extra space and looks super cool. Steering wheel has been wrapped in leather. Glove box has been updated. Original veneered cabinets. New tan curtains with leather ties. Bus is quieter than most because I had a removable carpet panel placed in the back. When it comes time for sleeping, not only do you have a sofa bed in the cabin, but also the iconic pop-up roof for comfortable camping upstairs as well. It's an amazing setup that we know has you thinking about how to use it for everything from campgrounds to the next car show.
This 1978 VW Westfalia Camper Bus is now being offered with service records and smog records from 2013 and a clean California title in the seller's name. Car is being sold as is.
