Two things I want to do this year- attend Concourso Italiano again ( I showed my Delorean twice) and park my car on the greens in the Porsche area. Is this an organized thing to do? or is is just all random? does someone coordinate the coral? or the porsche coral at the historics?
the other thing I want to do this year is volunteer for one of the auctions. whether a driver or anything. how to do this? does PCA get contacted for members? I have no idea how to get this going. Anyone ever done it?
Why not consider showing your car at Legends of the Autobahn (a PCA sponsored event) and you can still make a pilgrimage to Concorso... : ) In any case, registration for the Porsche coral at Laguna is handled by the club.
I was going to do Concorso as an exhibitor- except your car is there all day. No way my wife will hang for that many hours. We've got tickets, but I guarantee we'll be off eating and/or drinking by 2:30pm.
Once you are there you can do what you want. There are cars leaving all the time. While your car is there you can walk around. Lots of good food right there as well.
if you are on the green you cannot leave once the gates are open. in the general admission parking lot you can come/go. there are so many cars to see time goes by pretty fast. and if your done looking, just set up the chairs by your car and relax! when I had my DMC there, there was always someone asking questions.
As I recall from their website, it had to be in place by 9am, and you can't leave until after the event.

My experience last year was that both ^^ are pretty accurate:
the website had stern words requiring you be there all day, but the reality was more lenient, especially by afternoon.
I ended up driving with friends from the Legends of the Autobahn Concours, then plopping my jalopy in the Concorso's general parking
...with another German reject at the Italian party.
I've found the calendar of events page on MontereyCarWeek.com helpful. It will be updated as events near.

Even more extensive is SportsCarMarket.com's "Insider's Guide to Monterey."
Originally mailed as a printed supplement, it's my impression it's now sold out. However, the entire 100-page guide's available on-line. Click below:
"SCM's 2011 Guide to Monterey is the comprehensive resource for all things Monterey, with a full event schedule, tips on where to stay and eat, and advice from the SCM experts. It's a vital resource if you plan to attend the events this year.
You may want to dive into pages 46-56 first. Besides the insider's tips, I especially like the 'Event Timeline' graph (p. 50) that visually displays each day's schedule, letting the reader know what's happening chronologically. SCM lists addresses, phone #s, prices, & even has a map of the events.
there is a great get together of car enthusiasts at Baha Cantina in Carmel Valley. Lots of interesting cars show up there. It's right beside Quail Lodge.

I had dinner with Monterey friends I haven't seen in years; we all found the food & drink great.
Excellence Magazine editor Pete Stout said hi while I was parking.
