Interesting..missed that thread..
If you look close at the one pic post in the BAT listing, you can see that it's a non-airbag dash, but still has the later airbag console and the pod does look like an airbag pod...
Makes me wonder if its a rebuild..doubt Porsche would leave a gap like that between the console and dash...really looks pieced together..

That car has so much wrong with it, it would take a day to type it all out. They had it up on Autotrader for $50k also but the add is down.

Everyone:
I have one of our club members here in Columbus wanting to sell his Black/black 1985 5 speed with 42K miles. The car has a salvage title that was repaired and the whole car repainted. The car was hit in a parking lot at his work and the driver's door, fender, rear quarter and passenger door were replaced from a donor car. Receipts from the body shop confirms this. The interior is all leather with the dash of course pulling away from the vents seats are excellent. The paint is a 6 out of 10. More of a 10 footer. The engine had the timing belt with Porken tensioner and Laso pump done 2 years ago and only 1K miles put on it since then. Transmission shifts well and clutch is strong. Tires are 9 years old. Little things galore to fix. Definitely a project car but with the Rebuilt Ohio title would not be one you could flip and make out on. Sorry no pictures. I have the CarFax I can send to start. The guy wants to sell it but doesn't seem to take suggestions for getting me pictures to get it out there. If someone made him an offer of $3500, I bet he would take it. I don't need another project so I thought someone here may jump on it.
PM me and I can hopefully get some pictures from him.

Bet money the bags popped and instead of replacing everything they just pieced together an early dash and steering wheel to save money.

The dealer has an obvious attitude and if the reserve is anything north of 15k BAT needs to give their head a shake.
The car is an M900 so was delivered at the factory for a Canadian buyer.

I would bet on the air bags as well. I have never seen any 928 in Canada 89 and above without airbags. (unless they are euro imports)

Even if it has 'theoretical' issues, it's a GT and that means it's not an automatic--- and that means it's a better driving machine than any 'mint' S4/GTS that's hampered with a slushbox. I've noticed that the buyers that are interested in a 5-speed 928s, 'only consider manuals'. So this car should never be compared to any automatic as far as history-condition-maintenance, it's a totally different value proposition. Savvy buyers know this.

The fuel lines are all original from what I can tell. Which also means the intake has most likely never been off the car. Could tell more if the engine bay picture was a bit more detailed.

You seem to dismiss obvious serious issues as ignorant ravings. This isn't a theoretically extant problem. There is no doubt a serious problem exists. The only thing that is theoretical is its nature. Either:
- the pictures in the ad are not from the car being sold
- it's an '89 retrofitted with some '90 parts and a new VIN
- it's a '90 with the airbags removed
Do you have an alternative explanation for why a 928, factory-equipped with dual airbags, is displayed with none?

Wow, big opinions from peeps that have never seen this car in person.. Don't you love the internet?. If someone is truly interested in this car, a ppi will surely be made. Sorry to disappoint some here, but this car is easily worth over $35k. --

Here is what 55k CDN can get you.

Also Quebec cars are a nightmare and everyone in Canada knows it. Perhaps someone out of the country will buy this thing just because it's a GT and that is what the dealer is hoping for. I manage a Service Ontario and deal with these province transfers every day and would not touch a PQ car with accident history with a 10 ft pole.

The tell on this one, as mentioned, it has the early dash, early wheel but the later console and cluster. These pieces never came together and you can tell by how the console connects with the dash. A curved console just doesn't fit with the square dash points. I really doubt the dealer has a clue about this and, at this point, is finding more about the car than he really wants to.

Ah! I see it now. I had to care enough to look at more pictures.
I really cannot fathom the confusion of thoughts swirling around the inside of your head that result in the production of some of your posts.
