To go from 8.2:1 to 9.2:1 I give up about 3% cylinder volume and gain about 3% in thermal conversion efficiency. Now given the weakness of the head due to bore size, it just does not make sense in my view.
Keeping the peak cylinder pressure times the bore area down seems like a prudent thing to do if one fears head lift. Keeping the peak cylinder pressure down if one fears knock also seems like a good idea. Long stroke and low compression seem like the recipe for safe turbo power. To me anyway.

If one runs a big enough turbo and small enough exhaust port, then one can by my logic run relatively long valve overlap because the exhaust back pressure is in check. This longer overlap and favorable pressure differentials will evacuate even a large combustion chamber.

In terms of chamber shape, at your boost levels I wouldn't intentionally create squish or speed up the combustion. It's going to burn very fast anyway.

Is there a general consensus what kinds of measured peak cylinder pressure these 951s can safely run, either on 100mm bore and stock open-deck block or with these larger 104mm sleeved blocks?

Have you done any more testing on this motor Shawn?

Nothing really, been pretty focused on other projects. Should get back to it soon.

Bumping because I just started a 3.0 16v build, Love the build! Did you ever turn the boost up higher on e85? Im using a 6662 turbo and will be running e85... Its very encouraging to see such high numbers on relatively low boost!

Pretty sure it is a typo Patrick, should be a CEA 6266

Not a typo this is a Turbonetics hurricane "erin" turbo.

its closer to the gtx3582r but slightly bigger on comp wheel. Slightly smaller on both sides than a gtx40

Just read the specs, I have a GTX3582R, as I stated earlier can't wait to see your spool characteristics, this is Not a GTX3582R thus the price. I might be totally wrong, but must agree with previous statement this will be laggy, but should have a massive top end.

I really like how you've done the engine bay. It looks 90% stock. If you had smoothed down the welds on the intake, you'd think the car is factory restored.

What is on the right of the intake with the 2 hoses coming out of either end?

Really nice job Shawn. I agree with Pauly. Almost factory looking. As mentioned elsewhere, can't believe how good these 16v motors can be. 492whp at 15.5psi is very healthy. Obviously Gustaf, Rod, Peep, Zoran and some others have had excellent results unable to be matched by the 8v counterparts. I've also made contact with another guy who has built a 16v race motor that he saw 400whp / ft-b at 6psi ! Despite differences in dynos and conditions, it's all very positive indeed.

Thanks Paul. That is the ISV, no other place to put it. Very tight install with the Revline intake.
