Forgive the OT post, but please indulge this geeky dad whose middle daughter is an engineering student and currently doing intern work in an aerospace firm. So knowing that her dad is an ardent mechanical geek, she made these for me on some break time: carbon fibre coasters! Polished to a lovely gloss on both sides, weigh nearly nothing, just gorgeous!
BTW, these are comprised of 24-plies of fabric and cured with aerospace goop (the huge engine nacelles she's working on use only 8 plies so these coasters are definitely overengineered to withstand whatever party foul they may face!!).
Thank you for indulging my joy!
Looks cool, Edward! 24 ply...kind of nuts. How much force can they take before they fail?
Have you put rubber feet on the bottom?
Feet ...good call, Mark ...I'm doin it!
And given that a large commercial jet engine housing needs only 8 plies, I think it's safe to say my coasters are strong enough to handle even my 2yo grandson ...lol!
Hahaha, sorry Richard ...no go on that one. A few more weeks at the firm and then it's back to school for her. But suffice it to say, these made me smile like a goofy proud papa
