Default Can't seem to ID this wire

I am putting a new head unit in my '86 944 NA. I can't identify this wire in the following pic. I have looked at the factory manuals too. Anyone know what it goes to?

What I have figured out so far:

This page shows all the connectors but it is hard to make out which it might be:

Check their continuity to pin 3 and 4 (same colors in your impressive drawing) -- looks like someone cut the cable going to the antenna amplifier.

Tom, thank you for the reply. Pins #3 and 4 do have continuity. And both 3 and 4 have continuity to the "mystery" red and black twirled wires. But now where do you think the little black pigtail hooks up? To the antenna amp? I didn't see any other stray wires in the center console. - Chris

Looks like the #4 in the factory diagram for plug to automatic antenna based on process of elimination. Of course, the factory diagram only pertains to a Monterery (SQR23), so you may want to verify what radio was originally equipped with your car.

Mine did likely have the Monterey SQR23 as pin #5 is empty on mine. On both configurations though, Pin #4 is for the same thing. My radio stations don't come in, so I think the antenna amp is not getting power. Thing is, I don't know where the antenna amp is or what it looks like.

If I recall, the antenna amp is in the passenger kick panel below where the battery sits.

@Perry 951, your pic helped me solve the last part of the puzzle. I have all the wires ID'ed now. Thank you.
@Tom, someone did in fact cut the wire and I couldn't see it - it was hiding in the sleeve with the antenna main wire.
@DSMblue - you were right about Pin #4.

Revised drawing:

Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me. I appreciate it.

Go to Pelican Parts website, a search for electrical drawings.
Hopefully that will help identify the wires

I don't think Pelican has the oval dash schematics. He needs to find a copy of the workshop manual to download.

I looked at the radio sheets in the FSM, and didn't find any reference to pairs of wires of those colors in that section.

On the factory setup, those go from the radio to the fader dial. It is very possible if the radio isn't the original, someone may have cut the fader dial out of the equation. I will go find a drawing.

This is sheet 12. Look at the radio on the right. Late 944. Between the radio and Fader are four wires. They called what I am referring to as a fader ... they call it the regulator on the sheet (diagram). Out the back of the radio there were only two channels, left and right. The fader helped make two channels into four channels.
Anyway, Channels out from Radio:
1) Left Channel: Brown/Green – [Brown wire with green Stripe] Negative terminal
2) Left Channel: Green + [Green wire] Positive Terminal
3) Right Channel: Brown/Blue –
4) Right Channel: Blue +

To find out if what the drawing shows matches your wires, trace the four wires to your aftermarket stereo connector (looks like maybe 16 pins) and note what color the wires are that they connect to. Then google your stereo wire connector color diagram and see if it matches. This is the best way to ID them. Wiring diagrams don't always match factory drawings, and we don't know what car you have (year model). Also cars weren't all optioned the same. Different stereo options etc. If speakers are out or being changed, you could trace wires with a continuity tester / multi-meter.

A previous owner of my car chopped up the stereo wiring harness like a mouse with a machete. They bypassed the fader during the butchery rewire. I feel like one should do a good job on things that won't be seen, doesn't have to be beautiful, but should be solid and professional. Did the PO's stereo wiring work? Yeah, I suppose it did, but it was a mockery unpleasant.

The way they connected the wires was a statement; an emphatic vile oath by a barber-mongered, eater of broken meats, one-trunk-inheriting, traitorous, slack-jawed buffoon bad.

hello, any idea what is this wire on my 944 S2 ?
It comes out of the radio loom where it splits between radio wires and speaker/amp wires

I can wind a BR/BL wire on the electrical diagram

mystery wire
