Burning Brakes
Finally some progress with the engine. As expected, timing chain covers leaking, some sensors are worn out, some major cleaning required, etc. A list is being put together which I will share here. Turns out the fan was welded and painted by the previous owner so I'll need a new fan. Transmission needs new seal. Wondering if I should look at aftermarket pulleys.
Lots of cleaning, as you mention.

I feel your pain. I'm in the middle of this same process on the engine and trans on my 1990 C2. Stripped the engine down and delivered the longblock to my engine builder. Happy to share any info we have gathered. Heads are going out now for machining, installing new updated 3.6 pistons and cylinders, etc. etc. Cylinder base gaskets were leaking and oil dripping down the side of the case.
Lots of cleaning, as you mention.

The idea came about from how the modern cars don't have the seat grooves.. plus the idea of a rear seat delete.. so we came up with this design

Regarding pulleys: Rothsport makes a single pulley conversion with a dual belt AC/fan alternator pulley. I am putting it on mine with a single fan pulley conversion.

I switched to the clewett serpentine belt system, but I still have a dual mass flywheel on the other end of the crankshaft. I have been very happy with it. Don't know if anyone has used one of these with a LWF.

Talked extensively to rothsport about the pulley vs damper. Said nonissue.
You get less drag on the accessory system and less rotating mass.
Clewett is good but do they make a ac version?

Yup. That's what I have. It's a high quality piece of kit. I get the whole 4th order harmonics issue by removing the balancer but I have not experienced any unusual vibrations in over 7000 miles of use. I drive it hard on a daily basis and sustained rpms 4-5k routinely with no I'll effects. AC charges up beautifully and I have experienced no alternator issues. I would like to eventually throw in a lwf but I'm still a bit skiddish about losing the inertia on the flywheel side which may be helping damper the harmonics.
