Kobalts Great White RS

I've got good news: My suspension from RCN has been revoked so I'm heading for the Ring this weekend for a nice mix of racing and tourist driving.
This race I'll not share the car with my co driver so I'll drive the full race alone.
I'm already looking forward to the after-race-beer

My gigantonormous RS next to the sweet little tjinkotjenta.
Evenings TF was short: One warm up lap, one half lap, letting out air from tires. Track closed for the rest of the evening... Cup of coffee and refilling air.

Todays RCN in short version: Middle of lap two: Puncture on right front tire. Competition is over.
Made it to the pits eventually and then drove rest of the race doing sprint laps.
Depression changed to happiness.

Now it is beer time.

Such a great shot! Looks like the back side of the castle there, up on the top of the hill. Where/what section of track is this shot from? Metzgesfeld?
Couldn't agree more about it being magical.

yes, Kobalt is correct (as I guess he has passed this part of the track many more times than I did :-) ) it is just behind #147 close to Hohe Acht. However, it looks so different when you are in the car driving.

Just to show how the start in RCN normally is done. It is a slow rolling start and the first lap is a set time lap so normally that is a rather slow lap.

And this video show the start of lap 2, which is a sprint lap.
You can see me getting a puncture when leaving Fuchsröhre at 2:24.
i feel that something is wrong but not what first so it takes a couple of seconds before I'm sure what is wrong so I decide to go to the nearest safe zone (orange color on the Armco fence) to check out the damage.
There is safe areas on the left side but I don't want to take the risk and cross the racing line.
After investigating the damage and consulting with the team and the marshals i decided to try to make it to the pits.
Just as I'm about to get into the car a intervention car parks in front of me asking me if everything is OK with me - nice guys.
Unfortunately I have started the engine and the car is without a handbrake: So my car starts to roll towards the intervention car so I have to run to it and jump into it and press the brake. Pew! Would have been really embarrassing making contact
Somehow I broke a rib or maybe stretched the muscles on my left side of the chest doing the "Save my face thing".
It hurt pretty bad in the right hand corners and when I laugh etc.
Well, I drove back to the pits at a speed of about 30-40 kph hoping the tire would survive.
I forgot to start the GoPro camera otherwise I would have had some really interesting video to show you.
In short: it is dangerous and scary. Especially scary when you are behind a blind corner on the racing line.
Or on the backstraight, Kesselchen, and cars comes up towards you doing +240 kph side by side.
This lap, the second one, took 53 minutes to complete (should have taken 8.30-9.00 minutes) so it was safe to say that I was out of the competition.
So the only thing to do until they closed the track was to drive as much as possible, as fast as possible and enjoying the moment.
The competition is 15 laps, I think I managed 13 so I'm kind of pleased anyway.
During my 12 fast laps I got the opportunity get understeer and feel grass under the tires at 180 kph (at the fast right hander after Mutkurve). I was confused where the understear came from, then I saw a friend in his BMW and it did't take genius to connect the white smoke coming from his car with my understear.
Back in the pits
Next race is the 5th of August

Thanks guys
Yes it is fun and also very exhausting. Afterwards you are totally drained. Feeling a bit like a Picasso painting where the eyes sits in the wrong place on your face
Here's a short "Banana and race strategy" video:
