Carl sells MSDS headers.
I do not sell MSDS headers. MSDS does make our headers for us, but they are 928MS Headers. See the difference?
MSDS was making headers for a long time before we partnered with them on a joint project to make our headers for us, and later again, we partnered on a joint project to improve our headers (at the request of Rennlister's) into merged-collector headers.
So... if you get an old set of MSDS headers, I don't know what jig or fixturing was used to make them, I don't know what dimensions they have, and I cannot say with certainty that our Header-X will bolt up.
Buy a new set of headers from us, and I do know our Header-X will fit them.
Our Header-X may very well fit a certain model of old MSDS headers, but I have no control over that. You can try it, and if it doesn't fit the Header-X can be returned. If it is returned complete without scratches or damage, you will be refunded less a 10% restocking fee.
A quick look at the pictures below of our 928MS header with merged collectors shows how very different our headers are compared to the ones in Mrmerlin and BC's pictures. Our headers look so different than the old MSDS headers I am surprised really that there is any confusion.

I have an 1989 928...some recent issues with the rear tail lights....one socket has a rusty broken tang, two others are showing age....so by chance do you have a wiring harness to sell?....other than buying a new wiring harness...or getting old sockets with a pigtail, are there any other solutions as I would prefer not to stick in "just any socket"and destroy the look...many thanks for any tips

Carl: Question on the headers...
Well, more the O2 location...
Would this be better farther downstream, instead of receiving flow from that -1- collector?
Or is it more a distance/temp issue in the exhaust.

headers have been identified as OBX

MSDS filed suit against OBX for knocking off their design (this is a couple years ago), and what I was told was that they succeeded at getting OBX to cease and desist making knock-offs, but not before of course a bunch of them got out.
I was surprised that our courts could have any leverage against a China product, but my knowledge in this area is very limited.

There are those that feel the narrow-band O2 sensor should be in the collector where it can "read" the exhaust from both heads. There are those that say the velocity in that collector is too fast, and that a bad cylinder's reading would also be diluted by the other 7 cylinders' emissions.
My feeling is that isn't what the narrow band O2 sensor is for... it isn't to report a good or bad cylinder, its purpose it to verify the tune to the load and make small adjustments as needed. For that purpose, being in one bank only is just fine. If both banks are not the same, you have other more serious issues.
I like having a bung on each side so I can have a narrow-band O2 sensor on one side for the engine management, and a wide-band O2 sensor in the other side for ME to see.
Just my $0.02

OK, so my memory wasn't as bad as I thought. They looked like MSDS, because they're a copy, and Carl does have his own headers. Cool. For once I don't have athletes tongue.

They *could* be MSDS/Carl headers as he has for many years used MSDS long-collector design. Maybe up to a decade.
Short collector is recent product change. Recent enough that website pictures demonstrating large-tube headers and X-pipe have not been updated.
OBX sells similar, but they are almost always Stainless steel, and with particular changes required because of that material.
If OP are mild steel, they are the MSDS/Carl headers that were sold in this design for many, many years.

BC: that page you posted is our Big Port headers.
https://928motorsports.com/parts/big_port_header.php
Again, they are made by MSDS for us, but they are not MSDS's standard product. They are available only from us. The primaries are quite a bit bigger.
