928s for Sale

Congrats on your great deal. Some other commenters aside, I still think that the missing undertrays should be replaced ASAP. You will find that the car sounds completely different with them correctly installed. And no matter what anybody says, I had a lot of problems with short lifespan of accessory belts, attributed to the missing undertrays.

I saw your comment on that on BaT and you are the first to have ever said what you did. You may have had that issue due to no pans but it's an anomaly. The pans are there for cooling and minimal protection. The plastic factory pan won't withstand much of any sort of hit, but the aluminum ones will take a beating and have protected the oil pan on many occasions.
Then I see motorcycle after motorcycle with an exposed drive belt and you rarely hear of issues with those.
The only downside is the extra steps when changing the oil which IMO is moot since most new cars have some kind of tray blocking that process. Even our '04 Bug I have to remove an under-tray to get at the oil filter.

1 owner, has not ran in a year (but runs?). Guy says he is selling as a fixer and will get me photos soon. Over priced (in my opinion) and we had a language barrier. Selling for an old army buddy. Only hope is its a euro since the guy purchased it in the Army.

I have a friend in San Francisco who has a 1980 5-speed, brown copper metallic with brown interior. The car has been in storage (in a garage and under cover) for about 10 years, but shortly before being put in storage, the motor was rebuilt to Euro specs (Devek reportedly did the machining). The interior is in great shape (leather is still soft and supple with no wear on the seat bolsters and some shrinkage of the dash), the body is in great shape (no rust or dents), but the paint needs some attention (clear coat around the hatch is crazed and some and part of the car was resprayed in driver quality fashion). The chassis has almost 200k miles (which surprised me because nothing else looks like that). The car will need some attention to get it running, new AC compressor, and not sure what else. The trans was reportedly shifting well and the lower ball joints were replaced with the updated ones with steel carriers. The seller wants $5k for the car, which was less than she spent on the rebuilt motor. The car could be a nice driver for someone who wants to put a little effort into it OR a donor of some good parts. PM me if interested and I will put you in touch with the seller.

Hey John, the passion of ownership was from the day I acquired it about 3 years ago. Regrettably, for personal reasons, the time has come to sell. I hope it goes to another enthusiast who will take good care of it.

Hi Everybody - I am new to posting (first) and am also on a hunt for my "unicorn" 928. I've come across this ad for a 1995 928 GTS with 24,000 miles. Asking $27K which seems too good to be true. I am guessing it is, but does anyone know any history on this car? I've been in contact with the seller, but am only getting bits and pieces. the seller and I have been emailing back and forth, but I am still waiting for the VIN and more pictures. Thanks, Dirt

78 for low money. Needs work. Bumpers are newer but seem less, would need a lot of work.

Yes, that ad must be a scam. I know the owner of the car that was in the eBay auction.
