Cobalt blue over black is a unicorn. That was my first color choice. Looked for 6 months and the only one I saw was in the UK. Well, other than this one, which was a repaint in a BMW (gasp) color - Atlantis Blue. It is an incredible color combo - not sure why Porsche didn't make a bunch of them. I see that combo in newer models, but they just didn't seem to build them in the 996 series.

Agree with everyone else re: color - if you get the wrong color, you'll always be unhappy with the car because that's the first and the last thing you see every time you drive it.

As far as the headlights go, the Turbo or Mk II headlights aren't considered the "ugly" headlights - that's the Mk I 996 "runny egg" headlights. I prefer to think of them as the GT1 headlights and I think, especially on a Mk I aerokit car, that they look great. They are interesting and unique and I believe history will be very kind to them. To hate on the car just because it doesn't have round, VW Beetle-style headlights is nonsense. I think the round headlights on the 997 look a little bit contrived, to be honest. Looks like the 997 was designed to have a more interesting headlight design, but then Porsche caved to the traditionalists and said "Screw it, they want boring, round headlights, then they can have them."

The 996TT is a no excuses, no apologies car.

Hi everyone!

Well I found a 2003 the other day and pulled the trigger on it! A much better vehicle than one that had almost 100K miles on it.

The first one I looked at did not fit the bill as far as all the interior and exterior issues....plus it was black on black and I vowed I would never get a black car again.

BTW..the second 996 was in immaculate shape interior wise. Full leather and no scratches or visible wear aside from one tiny less than 1mm on the passenger side near the air vent. After doing a tiny bit of cleaning it is barely noticeable!

Ended up getting it for just over 41K and when I brought her home she made a nice addition to the garage next to our 2017 Macan S.

Thanks for the advice and especially the folks that made me realize that settling for a color I would hate made tremendous sense. Once I get the minor paint issues (simple holograms/swirls) out of her in the next couple days, I will post up some pics!

Thanks again for the assistance...it really did help!

Thanks Danny!

Here is a side shot of her as requested....still trying to figure out the posting issues.

HRE wheels but I personally do not like them, neither does the wife, but hopefully I can source some local originals (hollow or not) for her. These will be our winter tires until we can find a set that she and I can both agree on!

Car is in the garage for some basic paint corrections now!

Fortunately we go it for 41K and change..... We LOVE the color and interior!

Love it! Agree with your wife on the wheels but as you said you've got winters now.

Thanks folks....

The wheels actually look better in person.

Not bad but kind of "blingy" for us.

Selling em or making "Coffee tables" out of them for the bar downstairs or the garage.

Shame as they are REALLY nice HRE wheels.....simply not our taste

My wife said I should put them up on Craigslist.

I just simply hate the 19" profile. I also do not like the rears at all.

Will see what happens at the next garage sale in a couple weeks.
