I was thinking of adding the manual override switch, but I've just found this thread and ordered some resistors. This is a great mod and just what I need before the Italian summer gets going as the car got too hot too often last summer!

Clever idea, have a suggestion though:
Instead of cutting up the stock wiring harness, buy a couple of connectors & make a removable jumper that includes the resistor. The temperature sensor (along w/ many others in these cars) are plain Bosch EV1-style injector connectors which makes it easy to find male & female sides.

male -> http://www.bmotorsports.com/shop/pro...roducts_id/570
Both available as bare connectors or as pigtails w/ pins already crimped (here)

You don't need to cut the stock wiring harness. You simply have to remove some insulation on both wires and run the resistor across the two bare spots. If you want to reverse, you just have to remove the resistor and cover the bare wire with electrical tape or whatever.

Great thread!
Have added a link to a 964/993 oil cooler fan operation and trouble shooting article that may assist others.

thanks for the pics V, RR et al ... just unsure about something: if you don't have a CCU anymore, how is the fan being controlled? Must this mod be done elsewhere in that case?

^^ thanks Mojo .. I'm confused as I don't have a CCU yet temp rarely gets above 9oclock except after 10-12 laps at the track on a hot day .. upto 10-10.30
... is my fan maybe not even engaging as CU and front suitcase removed??

rolling jack found one that was 0.6 watt, and it's low wattage application, so ...Radio shack's 0.5 watt... should do.
my shop doesn't have the metal film ones in .5 or .6W
