Spyders in the Wild...

Stelvio
In the absence of my Spyder which is half way across the world in San Francisco, I opted to rent a "Spider" while here visiting my parents home in Lake Como. In this case a lowly fiat 124, no frunk, small trunk, no power, soft suspension, luggage in passenger seat.. but oh MAN.. what a wonderful little car. There is this interesting rotational quality in the turns I can't quite describe.. it just pivots beautifully around itself. The shifter is also incredibly short and precise, and heel and toe is a joy (quite a bit easier than with the 981 spyder I must say).
Anyway, was missing my baby after 3 weeks away so this is as close as I could get...

SPECIAL WARNING FOR SJ
The following tale / pictures may seriously damage your mental health !!
Day 10
So after a long couple of days driving back from Switzerland through Germany and France, I have arrived safely back at base.
But I must just share my Tuesday driving in the Swiss Alps.
3 hours solid driving the magic triangle of the Grimsel, Susten and Furka Passes. If you don't know these roads, do get onto google.
Without doubt the very best day I've ever experienced in a car !
The roads are just such quality and completely varied on ever turn.
And of course the scenery is just outstanding.....
Is there is a better car to make such a trip ???
I can't think of one.....

We also met some really cool people on this tour -
Two guys, one Swiss and the other Austrian, drove this early Tesla around the world in 80 days, and where with a group promoting electric vehicles.
Another guy was riding around on this Austrian made electric motorbike. Weird looking thing and completely silent !
Oh, and this was one of the local inhabitants !!
Surprising who you met up a mountain...

Unbelieveable scenery!! Had to look at that motorcycle for a while to tell the front from the back. That front suspension fork is really strange!
OK OK I'm going to go on Highway 191 in eastern AZ to try and replicate some of that!!

PCA Orange Coast Region White Glove Concours
We had three Spyders in attendance at our local annual PCA concours today.
White over tan is not a combo I had ever seen before on a 987.
And Jerry's 981 beauty was in attendance.
Who says 987 owners don't know how to have a good time??!!

Had my Spyder at our local Fuelfed Open. Fuelfed is normally for vintage European cars, but 3 times a year they have the "open" for any cars...it was a hit!
