Caging Wilson
Hi crew. Its been a while since I've been around because my computer was dying a slow death and wouldn't let me come around.
Now I have a new laptop.
I'm having a really good time fabricating a beefy roll cage for my 88 944 Wilson.
Part of the process will include UNDOING some of the really crappy welding I did, when I installed the Hanksville roll bar (about 3 years ago).

I would not do that at the front at all..
You put the bars behind the dash.
reason is so you dont crush your knees. and you can remove the dash when you need to.
Not sure about your country, But here, there's regulations on how to build a cage for your car, and it needs to be checked and signed off. So people dont build crappy cages and hurt or kill them selves.

It's the knee crusher HVAC treated role cage option. Lovely, I will have to pass on the driving experience of that particular cage setup due to being 6'4" with my legs still attached. I would rather not take a chance on drastically changing that (very important to me) number. Other than looking like it would willingly remove my lower half in a fender bender and possibley decapitate me it looks very nice.

I also failed to mention that steering wheel, shifter & pedals will be moved rearward by about 4 inches/100mm and this changes the geometry quite a bit.
I need to thank everyone for your input. THANKS! I also appreciate the photos.
Your comments inspired me to once again sit in the car & reconsider potential injury... I think with some roll bar padding on my dash bar would be fine...
BUT, just now it has been cut from the a-pillars. I want the cage to get the nod from scrutineers & not be questioned. So I consider myself LUCKY to have the feedback everyone.
