Default 997 C2S Cabriolet Hardtuned Project Car Build

Hey Guys,

thought i would start a thread to document the process of the C2S Cabriolet i am building at the moment.

A little bit of background story : Coming from a GTR/Silvia Japanese sports car background Porsche's were never on my radar personally, even working with the GT3 Cup series over the last few years i never really understood why porsche guys were so fanatical.

Even after attending some classic car rallies and a couple of Rauh Welt / RWB cruises in Tokyo with some incredible looking Porsches I still didn't get what all the hype was about...
The turbos' again didn't really excite me when comparing back to back with some of the 4WD turbo cars i have owned.

But then it happened....

Xmas last year I got a few days and nights with a base model 997.1 Carrera, and for that weekend we spent around 20 hours of driving through some of the best roads around the Hakone Mountains in Fuji Japan.... and it was then i fell in love with the Marque.

How could a "base model" car sway all my previous experiences, and how much it could change my opinion on the brand?

I guess it was the time to appreciate what it is, the Rear Mount RWD through the mountains is definitely a rewarding and unique experience, and it was at the point it "clicked" for me - so as soon as i got back to Australia, i set out to find a car to build...

Knowing i wanted to strip and build and make it my own, I set out to look for something suitable -
So 6 weeks ago i purchased my first Porsche - a 2008 C2S Manual Cabriolet... Cabriolet was a bit of an after-thought, and it was far from a nice clean example, but given that it was to be stripped back, i figured it was the perfect base for building into something special.

Random Pictures:

Some pictures of the 997.1 Carrera that changed it all for me up at Mount Fuji at Sunrise, and one of the RWB Porsches we did the Wangan in last year, and a turbo 997 from one of my track days..

Here is also a photo of how the car stands at the moment, and a photoshop rendering of the expected final product.

I know it's probably not to a lot of people tastes probably (eww. fake gt3) and admit my JDM background & friends in the Porsche Cup series have swayed my opinions on the styling, but hey... you build a car for yourself right?

So the plan is to run with a 997.2 GT3 Cup kit, 19" Work Meister S13P wheels and finishing the car in a limited edition Millenium Jade color (from the R34 GTR V-SpecII NuR)...

Performance modifications planned so far are :

- Composite GT3 Cup Front and Rear bumpers
- GT3RS 997.2 Ducktail rear (possibly with high spoiler or modified to remove that part)
- Headers + Custom GT3 outlet Exhaust
- Custom Rollcage
- Project Mu Brakes
- Uprated Clutch
- Middle Radiator
- RSS Engine Mounts
- Recaro Pole Position Leather Fixbacks.

Plenty of work done on the car in the last week, big thanks to Brothers Lab who are doing a lot of the work!

Engine is out now, and most parts have been removed, cleaned and repainted... Should have taken before and afters... should look like a brand new car underneath!

A couple of happy snaps of the progress

And In the time it took me to fly interstate (4 hrs), the boys at Brothers Lab have already stripped it down... if only all shops worked this fast 😂

I've always liked the JDM approach to european cars; definitely unique. Gorgeous wheel; I look forward to seeing the rest come together. Good luck!

OK New Update Guys, and some new photos, still waiting on a lot of parts but the engine has been stripped checked cleaned and reassembled.

Cage is also in, really happy with the welds and finish, - the dual stars are actually more aggressive than i was expecting but i like it!
