A/C TXV clearance issue?
Last week I took the Weissach out for its first drive of the year and the A/C charge was flat.
Performed a leak check and it didn't take long to find a decent size leak from a protrusion on the left side of the TXV body.
I believe the TXV is original yet the fitment seems idiotic. The powerhead is pushed right into a heater hose...so tight the hose is pushed into an oval shape.
There's also a plastic cover on the powerhead which is probably there to protect it and the hose.
I ordered a new TXV made by 4 seasons; horizontally it's identical to the one I removed and pushes into the hose the same way. Vertically, it's maybe a ¼" longer which doesn't seem like a big deal until you try to line up those formed hard lines.
It's done, leak free and ice cold once again. Just wondering if I'm missing something or did Porsche make a common off the shelf part fit.
Here's the new one installed.
