Nice pics. It's amazing what that place has turned into since we first stared going there in the early 1990s. Maybe the term tourist trap is too harsh, but I liked it better when it was under the radar. Still a good road, just too crowded now.

What makes it OK with me is I saw zero drivers standing around with beer cans. In fact the whole place seems kind of self policing. And it was not that crowded on a Friday. I hear weekends is a bit different.

That's good to hear. Plus there are a lot of other good roads nearby. I've gone up with friends who wanted to drive Deals Gap but we end up spending most of our time on Cherohala or the Hellbender or other local roads. Still a lot of fun.

i guess I owe the thread a photo, this one was taken somewhere in the middle of West Virginia.

Vancouver BC to Calgary AB. Not light on the throttle, with lots of WOT passing through the mountains, and car still returned an average of 8.5L/100km (27.6mpg). Almost hard to believe.

Cherohala Skyway NC and Tennessee. Some of the best driving roads we have seen since Europe. Perfect surface and awesome views.
