lol. Heated Seats on blast, heat on full, big old winter rain boots in between sessions. Lots of coffee. Fun weekend for learning, but not ideal conditions for going fast.

I was impressed with the track's drainage though. Saturday saw some real rotten weather and it would "dry" off (well, no longer have lakes and rivers) pretty quickly once the torrential rain stopped.

The video I posted was from the Zone 1 event but it was one of the dry sessions. I didn't upload any sessions from when it was pouring.

Do you still have the link to the video of you I sent you? That one has some wet stuff in it, but no full laps or anything. You're welcome to post it if you like. That one's all yours.

My general rules are avoid paint, puddles, and streams; stay away from the edge of track in braking zones; and soften inputs while also actively exercising car control so that the car is kept on a leash.

Beyond that, I'm doing reconnaissance and experimenting all the time, recognizing that the track can be different in any given location on the next lap.

I don't recall having ever missed a wet session. It's fun.

I was also at the ARPCA event. On Friday, 2 cars totaled. One of my students was an inexperienced driver with a Viper ACR on worn Nittos. I told him it was unsafe, and he didn't drive all weekend. My second student had a Cayman on street tires, and we had a good time. We started with the wet line, but found reasonable grip on the dry line as well...a tribute to the new surface and to the Cayman and the experience and maturity of the driver.

I drove myself and found the occasional loss of grip relatively sudden and violent. That may be a consequence of the nannies on my new Corvette, or the monster size tires. I've driven WG in the wet before, but with these very low temps, I found it surprisingly good, but still treacherous. The best I could do was a 2:19. I went home early.

Also you make several excellent points that are general rain driving principles; I just got done w a DE at MidO notorious for its rain line. Saturday it rained on and off all day.
Was my
first time instrinstructing that course and judicious applications of your noted points made for a successful experience for my student.

I'm heading to the Glen for the Zone 1 event next weekend. It's my first in the new C2S, so I'm obviously highly invested in bringing her home without any blue stripes!

Despite the snowy/rainy forecast - NO precipitation. Cold but dry
Car and race tires in the trailer overnight with heat turned on.
