Default Targa Tasmania 2017 - GT3 RS v's Viper

The 6 day road rally Targa Tasmania 2017 kicked off yesterday with no less than 3 fully caged GT3 RS's and 2 Dodge Viper ACR's (one being an "extreme").
After winning last years event in a stock GT3 we have upgraded to a GT3RS - the only modification being an Evo Race Akrapovic full titanium exhaust system.

After day 1 the 2 Vipers lead us in 3rd position.

Although we won more stages than the leading Viper Extreme driver we lost a big chunk of time on the first competitive stage, which was wet. (We only got the RS 4 weeks ago and it was the first time I've driven it in the wet - I didn't want to be "that guy")

The Viper has a very soft Khumo tyre compared to the Michelin and seems to be straight "on". Once we have some temperature in the tyre we can go a bit quicker, but ultimately I think the Viper is quicker than the RS in the wet. (Well, quicker than me anyway)

In the 2 dry stages and 1 semi-wet stage we beat both the Vipers.
We really need it to dry out for the remaining 5 days or I need to buy some brave pills.

Obviously Tony Q and Jim R both know a good thing when they see it. Hopefully on of the RS's will win but rooting for you to beat them for 2 in a row.

Fantastic. Now that is a Porsche in its natural habitat. Looks like you're sharpening the front splitter nicely in that last picture.

Good luck.

Jason and John will be hard to beat in GT2 the Viper is one hell of a car

Hope the weather clears up otherwise it can be a lottery.

In relation to "brave pills" - a former co-driver called it right "the trophy is worth about 30 bucks the car is worth a truck load more" - wise words.

Trust your tires, if they still allow six for the whole event you may have the winning hand.

Best of luck Matt!

Do you run the suspension in Normal or Race on those roads & still using PDK sport in auto?

Looking forward to the updates! I'll have to sign up to do the tour next year haha
